💜 World Elder Abuse Awareness Day — 15 June

Today is a gentle reminder that every older person deserves to feel safe, heard and respected.

Across our community, many older people live rich and meaningful lives, supported by family, carers and connection. But it’s also important to recognise that some may be experiencing situations where they don’t feel secure or supported. Raising awareness helps ensure that no one is overlooked.

Creating safe spaces starts with simple things — listening without judgement, showing kindness, and speaking up when something doesn’t feel right. These small actions can make a lasting difference in someone’s life.

At SWCC, we are committed to supporting dignity, independence and wellbeing, so every person can feel confident and valued in their own home and community.

💚 Caring for each other begins with awareness.

💙 Men’s Health Awareness Week | 8–14 June

This week is a gentle reminder that looking after your health is just as important as looking after others.

For many men, it’s easy to put things aside — to keep going without stopping to check in. But small moments of care, whether physical or emotional, can make a lasting difference over time.

It might be a quiet conversation, a GP visit you’ve been putting off, or simply taking time to rest and recharge. These simple steps help build strength, confidence, and wellbeing — not just for today, but for the future.

At SWCC, we’re here to support men in our community to feel connected, supported and comfortable reaching out when they need it most.

💬 Sometimes, looking after yourself starts with a single step — and that’s enough.

👉 Call us today for a friendly chat about how we can support you or someone you care about.

❄️ Keeping Warm, Safe and Supported This Winter❄️

As the cooler months settle in, it’s important to take a little extra care at home — not just for comfort, but so you can continue feeling safe, independent and at ease in your own space.
Simple, everyday steps can make a real difference:

🧣 Stay warm throughout the day
Layer clothing, keep living areas cosy, and make your home a place of comfort.

Regular, balanced meals help keep your energy up and your body strong.
💧 Don’t forget to stay hydrated
Even in winter, your body still needs plenty of fluids.
🏡 Create a safe, supportive space
A warm and well maintained home helps you stay confident and independent in your daily routine.

At SWCC, we’re here to support you through every season — with care that helps you feel comfortable, capable and connected at home.

🌸 Moments from May — Shared Experiences & Simple Joys 🌸

May brought a beautiful mix of outings, each offering something a little different — from peaceful surrounds to special treats and memorable shared experiences.

Across the month, we visited a variety of places, enjoying both changing scenery and delicious food along the way:

💐 Annual Mother’s Day High Tea — a chance to slow down and celebrate together
🌿 Vasse Virgin — surrounded by natural beauty and calming spaces
🌳 Golden Valley Tree Farm — fresh air, open views and quiet reflection
🪵 Featured Wood Gallery, Australind — creativity, craftsmanship and conversation
🎣 Fishabilities — connection through shared activity and new experiences

Each outing offered an opportunity to step outside the routine, connect with others, and enjoy time in a way that feels meaningful and uplifting.

WA Day Public Holiday – Office Update

As our community comes together to celebrate WA Day, we’d like to let clients, families and local community members know that South West Community Care offices will be closed on Monday 1 June for the public holiday.

While our office locations will be closed for the day, this pause does not change our ongoing commitment to care. All services will resume as normal on Tuesday 2 June, and our team will be available again to support you.

We appreciate the chance to share this update ahead of time so you can plan with confidence — and we thank you for being part of our South West community.
