❤️💛🖤 NAIDOC Week 2026 | 50 Years Deadly ❤️💛🖤

This NAIDOC Week (5–12 July), South West Community Care proudly joins communities across Australia in celebrating 50 Years of NAIDOC — a milestone that recognises the strength, resilience and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

As we honour the oldest living culture in the world, we also acknowledge the importance of connection, understanding, and shared history. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to come together, celebrate culture, strengthen community bonds, and continue the journey toward reconciliation.

At SWCC, we believe communities are stronger when everyone feels connected, respected, and valued. By learning from one another and celebrating the rich cultures and contributions of First Nations peoples, we help build a more inclusive and united future for all.

💚 Because life is better when we stay connected.

🥗 July Wellbeing Tip: Nourishing Your Body, Supporting Your Wellbeing

As we age, looking after our health becomes even more important—and it often starts with what’s on our plate. Simple, balanced meals can make a big difference in maintaining energy, supporting independence, and enhancing overall wellbeing.

At home during mealtimes, small changes like adding more fresh fruits and vegetables, staying hydrated, and including nutrient-rich foods can help you feel your best each day. Nourishing your body isn’t just about food—it’s about supporting a healthy, active lifestyle so you can continue doing the things you enjoy.

Taking a little extra care with nutrition today can help you stay stronger, healthier and more independent tomorrow 💚

✅ Tip: Aim for a colourful plate—different colours often mean a variety of important nutrients!

If you or your loved one would like support with maintaining healthy routines at home, our team is here to help.

🍎 Red Apple Day — A Gentle Reminder to Care for One Another

Today, we pause to recognise those living with bowel cancer, and the families, carers and loved ones who walk alongside them each day.

Moments like these remind us how important it is to approach life with kindness, understanding, and compassion. A quiet check in, a shared conversation, or simply being present can mean more than we realise.

At SWCC, we see the strength within our community every day — in the way people support each other through challenges, and in the small acts of care that bring comfort during difficult times.

💛 No one should feel alone on this journey. Take a moment today to reach out, check in, or start a conversation with someone who may need your support.

💜 World Elder Abuse Awareness Day — 15 June

Today is a gentle reminder that every older person deserves to feel safe, heard and respected.

Across our community, many older people live rich and meaningful lives, supported by family, carers and connection. But it’s also important to recognise that some may be experiencing situations where they don’t feel secure or supported. Raising awareness helps ensure that no one is overlooked.

Creating safe spaces starts with simple things — listening without judgement, showing kindness, and speaking up when something doesn’t feel right. These small actions can make a lasting difference in someone’s life.

At SWCC, we are committed to supporting dignity, independence and wellbeing, so every person can feel confident and valued in their own home and community.

💚 Caring for each other begins with awareness.
