It's time to lend a hand alongside VSA & SYA to assemble 1000 Birthing Kits on Saturday, November 28th from 10am - 12pm at the VSA Clubhouse in Ashwood, Vic! Lunch will be provided for all registered volunteers.
Get your friends & family to help too towards this worthy cause to ensure all women & girls in developing countries have access to a clean & safe birth. Let's all Make A Difference to the Global Community!
Registration is FREE & All volunteers MUST be Registered.

*Last year our helpful volunteers assembled 800 kits for Birthing Kit Foundation Australia that were distributed to women living in & facing the most challenging of circumstances when they give birth in Malawi & Papua New Guinea. One kit can mean the difference between life and death so we are grateful to all those who volunteer their time & contribute to this worthy cause!

On Friday August 14th, The VSA Seniors got together for their monthly seminar & gup-shup session at the VSA Clubhouse in Ashwood, Vic. "Should Seniors Downsize Their Homes: Pros & Cons" was an engaging presentation that was filled with information & lots of questions from those who attended! This was followed by lunch & hot cha between laughs & shared stories😊

On Friday, 10th July the VSA Seniors held their monthly event at the VSA Clubhouse in Ashwood Vic with a seminar that was focused on 'Cancer Screening for Seniors' presented by Dr Patwinder (Winne) Gill, a Melbourne based general surgeon specialising in upper gastrointestinal & bariatric (weight loss) surgery. Dr Gill highlighted that as Australia’s population ages, cancer screening programs for older adults (aged 50 and over) have become cornerstone initiatives within the national public health strategy. Because the risk of developing oncological conditions increases significantly with age, structured surveillance is vital. In response, the Australian Government funds three primary population-based initiatives: Breast Screen, the National Cervical Screening Program and the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program. Dr Gill also emphasized that older members of the community should discuss any health concerns with their general practitioner (GP) to ensure they are tested appropriately. There was plenty of vibrant 'gup shup' throughout the afternoon & it's always gratifying to see our seniors gathering, staying connected & keeping healthy.

We hope to reach our goal of $20,000 to raise awareness & fight to reduce the impact of Cancer within our community so please join us as we will be accepting donations at NANAKSAR THATH LYNBROOK on FRIDAY 5TH JUNE from 6.30 PM - 8.30 PM. For those who are unable to attend in person, a link has been attached below for you to generously donate online. All donations go directly to the Cancer Council.
