After 4 months, countless hours in the driveway, and working through what often felt like endless rabbit holes, we’re super happy to say it’s finally on the road with our RWC approved and club registration plates finally fitted.

What started as a list of “just a few things” quickly turned into a full journey of cooling system work, rust repairs, electrical gremlins, interior fixes, brake work, oil leaks, steering bits, RWC challenges, and plenty of unexpected detours along the way. Every time we thought we were nearly there, something else popped up — but we got there in the end.

We’re incredibly excited for this rally and thank you all for your support for the cause!

Route & Planning Update!

We’re now in the early stages of planning our route, and it’s looking like we’ll be covering around 5,500kms in total, heading all the way up to Queensland and back as part of the rally.

That’s a serious distance, especially in a classic car, so right now our main focus is on building the Saab to be as reliable as possible. The planning phase is all about reducing risk, thinking through contingencies, and making sure we’re setting ourselves up to actually finish the rally (and hopefully enjoy it along the way!).

There’s still plenty to figure out, but it’s exciting to see the journey starting to take shape.

One thing’s for sure — it’s going to be a big adventure. Thanks for all your support!

After hours of scrolling Facebook Marketplace, we finally bit the bullet and picked our Mystery Box Rally car… a 1989 Saab 900 Turbo!

It got transported from Brisbane to Melbourne just fine — but on its very first drive from the depot, it lasted about 10 metres before breaking down with smoke and making all sort of noises.

Couldn’t be more on-brand for the rally if we tried 😂
