We don't want plastic in the environment. Recycling soft plastic shouldn't reduce efforts to redesign, refuse and reduce it, but at least the return of soft plastic recycling will go some way to closing the loop and replacing virgin materials.

"We can't recycle ourselves out of the plastic pollution problem" - Nina Gbor, director of circular economy and waste at the Australia Institute

You read that right – soft plastics recycling is back!

Your clean and dry soft plastics can now be dropped off to the dedicated soft plastic recycling bins located at the front of all metropolitan Woolworths stores in South Australia.

In partnership with Soft Plastics Stewardship Australia (SPSA), these soft plastics will be recycled into new products such as building materials and food grade packaging, helping to create a circular economy.

If you can't access one of these locations, soft plastics should only be placed in your red/blue landfill bin – never in your yellow recycling bin or green organics bin.

Our next workshop🤗 May 9th - Learn to fix those items of clothing and socks you love ❤️
Melinda, who comes to our Crafty Tuesdays, uses her time to darn unwanted holes in her favourite socks and clothes. We thought it would be great if she could show others how to do it with the particular style of honeycombing as it looks and feels really good!

Great news! ❤️👏

A colony of South Australia's last remaining bandicoot species is bouncing back just 6 kilometres from Adelaide amid hopes they can be connected with other populations.

An endangered southern brown bandicoot was first spotted in Brownhill Creek Recreation Park about six years ago, prompting Conservation Volunteers Australia to erect cameras to count them.

That resulted in the construction of a grazing enclosure led by the Friends of Brownhill Creek, inside which blackberry bushes and weeds were removed and native plants allowed to grow without being grazed by kangaroos and feral deer.
