During the past 100 years, the Foundation has spent $3 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects. Rotary District 9520 covers parts of four Australian states – South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. It’s about 1,300 kilometres long and 400 Kilometres wide. embers are business and professional people who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards, and help build goodwill, peace and understanding in the world. Some 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries carry out service projects in their local communities and abroad to address such critical issues as poverty, health, hunger, illiteracy, and the environment. Rotary is comprised of men and women of all races, religions, and nationalities. Founded in Chicago in 1905, Rotary transcends political, social and historical differences, and brings people of all religions and ethnic backgrounds together to make ours a kinder, healthier, and more peaceful world. We channel our commitment to service at home and abroad through five Avenues of Service, which are the foundation of club activity.
1. Club Service focuses on making clubs strong. 2. Vocational Service calls on every Rotarian to work with integrity and contribute their expertise to the problems and needs of society.
3. Community Service encourages every Rotarian to find ways to improve the quality of life for people in their communities and to serve the public interest.
4. International Service exemplifies our global reach in promoting peace and understanding. We support this service avenue by sponsoring or volunteering on international projects, seeking partners abroad, and more.
5. Youth Service recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership development programs such as Rotaract, Interact, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, and Rotary Youth Exchange.
