Transnational crime doesn’t stop at borders and neither do solutions.

IOM welcomed over 35 participants from the Vienna International Summer School on Transnational Crime and Justice, jointly organised by the Alliance of NGOs on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice and UNODC - United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, for discussions on combating migrant smuggling and trafficking.

These conversations helped students understand how IOM identifies and assists victims of trafficking and shape the next generation of thinking on the protection of migrants.

After fleeing the war in Ukraine, Ivan and his wife were forced to leave behind their home, farm and community.

Today, in Poland, Ivan is helping fellow refugees reconnect with environment. Through community gardening projects, these green spaces offer more than fresh produce - they create opportunities for healing and a fresh start.
