The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to foster and encourage:
The develo

High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society. Our Induction Celebration is not only an opportunity to welcome and commission the leadership team for the year ahead, but also a time to reflect on the past year, celebrate our achievements, acknowledge the challenges we have overcome, and recognise those members who consistently go above and beyond in service to others.

We extend our sincere thanks to President Pieter for his outstanding leadership and dedication throughout a successful Rotary year. Congratulations also to all the recipients of the awards presented on the evening – your commitment and service continue to make a meaningful impact in our club and community.

A special congratulations goes to three of our members who were deservedly honoured with Rotary’s highest recognition, the Paul Harris Fellow Award. President-Elect Ethan, Rotarian Corern, and Rotarian Nell have each exemplified the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self. Corern and Nell received their awards from our club, while Ethan was recognised by District Governor Pam for his exceptional leadership and service at district level through his work with the RYLA camps.

Thank you for your dedication, passion, and commitment to making a difference. 💙💛

Not all superheroes wear capes. Some simply choose to serve.

Our Superheroes-themed Induction Celebration was a wonderful reminder that the real heroes among us are the everyday people who give their time, talents, and hearts to make a difference in their communities. From Rotarians and Rotaractors to family members, friends, and partners in service, each person plays a vital role in creating positive change.

A heartfelt thank you to all our members, families, guests from fellow Rotary clubs, and our Rotaract partners who joined us for this special evening. Your support, friendship, and ongoing partnerships strengthen our ability to serve and inspire.

Together, we continue to prove that ordinary people can do extraordinary things. 💙💛

Inspired by the Rotary spirit of service, we are incredibly proud of Rotarian Nathan for coordinating a meaningful Youth Day drive in our community.

This initiative, led by Scottsdene Central Rugby Club, reflects the power of collaboration and service above self. As a club, we value our ongoing relationship with Scottsdene Central Rugby Club and are grateful to be part of projects that make a positive impact on the lives of young people.

Well done, Nathan, and everyone involved in making this initiative a success! 👏💙💛

Before the sun rose over Cape Town this Sunday morning, Bellville Rotary members and volunteers were already in position — coffee in hand, marshals’ bibs on, and ready to serve.

At Bellville Rotary, we’ve become known as a trusted club for coordinating marshals and managing sectors at some of Cape Town’s major athletic events, and the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon was no exception. While thousands of runners took to the streets chasing personal goals and finish lines, our marshals stood behind the scenes ensuring routes were safe, organised, and filled with encouragement.

From the early wake-up calls to the long hours on route, we are deeply grateful to every volunteer who gave of their time and energy. Your service not only makes these incredible events possible, but also helps equip our club and strengthen the community projects and people we support throughout the year.

To every runner, walker, volunteer, and supporter — congratulations and thank you for making the day such a success. 🏃‍♂️🏅💙

Restoring Sight, Restoring Opportunity

Last night, the Rotary Club of Bellville had the privilege of hosting PP Frederik Jansen, who shared the incredible impact of the Melkbos Rotary Club’s project, "Restoring Sight, Restoring Opportunity."

Frederik highlighted how this powerful initiative is doing so much more than just correcting vision, it is restoring independence, opening doors to new opportunities, and giving profound hope to many in our communities.

Thank you, Frederik, for inspiring us and reminding us of the true power of Rotary's Service Above Self. Together, we can continue to change lives!

Last week, we were privileged to host one of our own, Aiden, from the Rotary Club of Bellville, who delivered a powerful and essential talk on Men's Mental Health Awareness Month—or, as it's often called, BROvember!

Aiden challenged us all to look beyond just growing the 'stache, snor, or lip lapa and consider: What are we actually doing for the cause?

His message was clear: We must become active advocates for Men’s Mental Health and Wellbeing by helping to fight the stigma of "toxic masculinity" and the dangerous belief that we should "hold all our feelings inside."

🗣️ The Serious Conversations We Must Have
Aiden outlined the critical issues facing men in South Africa, urging us to take them seriously:

Testicular Cancer

Prostate Cancer

Men’s Mental Health & Su***de Prevention

Prevention of GBV (Gender-Based Violence)

The Lack of Father Figures in SA 🇿🇦

💡 Shocking Statistics Shared by Aiden
The presentation included some sobering facts that drove home the urgency of the matter:

80% of suicides in South Africa are male.

Prostate Cancer is now the leading cancer killer among men in SA, yet it is often easily preventable with annual checkups.

64% of children in SA do not live with their biological father.

Over 10,000 male suicides occur every year in South Africa, largely due to a reluctance to seek help and men not checking in with their fellow brothers.

ACTION: GROW THE MO. START THE CONVERSATION. SAVE A BRO.
We thank Aiden for sharing his wealth of information and inspiring us to join the movement in solidarity—and, more importantly, to join in helping each other.

Let’s heed his call: Start the conversation and Save a Bro.
