"The funds raised through this campaign help build a future filled with hope and courage for countless individuals. Together with our customers, we remain steadfast in our mission to provide support, inspire hope, and create a lasting positive impact in communities in need."

Through R4R's Ditto Project, volunteers provide silicone breast forms to State hospital patients who have no access to medical aid, so cannot afford breast reconstruction after a mastectomy.

At absolutely no charge, struggling South African breast cancer survivors are supplied with individually colour- and size-matched breast prostheses through the project, which is funded by the Power of Pink campaign.

This annual initiative, run every October by the South African Mushroom Farmers' Association (SAMFA) in association with Pick n Pay, gives R1 from each pink punnet of fresh mushrooms purchased at PnP stores nationwide to the Ditto Project.

On Sunday 13 October 2024, under the leadership of our chairlady Mrs Wendy Davids, we held our annual High Tea.

What a grand affair it was ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

This event would not have been possible without our sponsors and all the generous hosts, consisting of churches, individuals, survivors and supporters of breast cancer awareness ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

Our guests were well informed and educated by our prestigious guest speakers, Sr Abigail Tamboer and renowned psychologist in Kariega, Ms Nerine Loock.

We were also serenaded with the beautiful voice of Mrs Penny Davids and Ms Drisha King captivated every guest as she heightened our awareness to the Greatness of our Creator with some spiritual dancing ๐Ÿ™

You know your body, listen to it,โ€ says Grace de Maar, breast cancer survivor and Secretary of the Uitenhage branch of Reach for Recovery. And her gratitude to the Power of Pink campaign is unmistakable, โ€œIโ€™m not sure which is more important to us, the cancer-fighting properties of mushrooms or the money we raise through Pick n Pay, without which we cannot empower other women.โ€

We are fast approaching Breast Cancer Awareness month which can mean different things to different people. For some it's a trigger, a reminder of a disease that forever changed their lives and for others it's a chance to show their support for the more than 2 million women around the world diagnosed with this disease each year.

Reach for Recovery supports in many different ways and during the month of October we host fundraising events in the form of our annual High Tea.

We appeal to individuals or groups/associations to show their support by purchasing tickets or hosting a table at this event.
