25 young people signed contracts with SAAYC, opening the door to a valuable opportunity for growth, development and empowerment.

The court has spoken.

The perpetrator in the case of Veronique May has been sentenced on 3 counts:
1. 3 years for Housebreaking
2. Life Imprisonment for R**e
3. Life Imprisonment for Murder

While no sentence can bring Veronique back, we hope this brings some measure of justice and closure to her family, friends, and community.

At TWYST FOUNDATION, we stand with survivors and their families. We will continue to fight for the safety and dignity of women and children in South Africa.

We thank the SAPS, the NPA, the court, and everyone who supported this case.

Let Veronique’s name be remembered, and let her story be a reminder that violence against women and children will not go unanswered.

On monday 3 August 2026, our Director and Founder, Ms Ntombozuko Jafta, visited the home of Aviwe Nkume to offer support and engage with the family following recent developments.

We are grateful that, through our intervention and continued advocacy, Aviwe Nkume's case has officially been reopened.

This marks an important step toward ensuring that justice is pursued.
We remain committed to standing with survivors of gender-based violence and their families until justice is served.
