Information forwarded by SAPS:
Good morning colleagues. I have just attended our District disaster management meeting.
The following remarks are important:
The weather buro foresee rain of between 50 - 100mm over three days.
In the mountainous areas they expect between 120 - 150mm of rain.
All dams in the Garden Route District are over 100% full.
Stompdrift- and Kammanassie dams will be monitored and Oudtshoorn, Calitzdorp and Gouritzmond areas will be notified early.
People that were cut off previously due to the water, need to ensure that they have stocked up with food and other essentials articles (for at least 10 days).
SASSA payouts will start tomorrow, let's ensure that the elderly can go to the nearest town to stock up on essential articles.
Kannaland is a concern regarding the weather. Some people are still accommodated in community centers.
DSD was tasked to assist with food parcels when requested by municipalities.
Harkerville and Brackenhill is still without power.
Uniondale's water was temporarily fixed.
Mossel Bay- the wind is a concern.
