Closure Announcement – For the Love of Animals
Dear Community Members, Supporters, and Friends,
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the official closure of For the Love of Animals, after
five impactful and heartfelt years of service.
During this time, we have had the incredible privilege of serving the community of
Melkhoutfontein—assisting with feeding, educating, and uplifting the lives of both animals
and their humans. Together, we have:
● Provided food support for cats and dogs in need,
● Educated community members about the importance and positive impact of
sterilizing their animals,
● Organized four successful mass sterilization projects,
● Shared the message of the 5 Freedoms of Animal Welfare,
● Built safe and legal running chains and fences for families who wanted better lives for
their pets.
We have learned, laughed, and cried throughout this journey—but above all, we have loved.
We would not exchange this chapter in our lives for anything.
Unfortunately, due to our small team of volunteers now facing increasing personal
commitments and time constraints, we are no longer able to give the animals the attention,
energy, and care they truly deserve. This decision has not been made lightly.
While our operations are ending, we are not walking away completely. We will continue to:
● Drop off food monthly at Ouma Lena’s, personally and a few other properties that are in urgent
need,
● Pay the ongoing boarding fees for Kaptein, who is still patiently waiting for his forever
home. All fund thereafter will be transfered to Stillbay Animal Protection.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Stilbaai Animal Protection for their
unwavering support and guidance during difficult times, and we wholeheartedly salute
Community Animal Rescue for their tireless fight for what is right.
Though For the Love of Animals is closing its chapter, the impact and memories will live on.
We sincerely thank each volunteer, donor, partner, and community member who made this
work possible. We could not have done it without you.
To everyone who stood by us, believed in us, donated, shared posts, fostered, or simply
offered encouragement—thank you. You helped make this work possible.
Though this chapter is closing, the story of animal welfare in Melkhoutfontein continues. We
invite you to support the incredible organizations still working tirelessly for the
voiceless—because every bit of help makes a difference.
With heartfelt thanks,
The For the love of animals team
