Thank you sooo much to Duhne Liebenberg from Namo Health & Wellness Stilbaai who visited Stillwater Kids on Friday 5 June at our Therapy in Motion session in Melkhoutfontein!🫶

Duhne shared some very valuable information on how herbs and plant based teas🫖 can improve your health and keep the "goggas" 🦠away. At Stillwater Kids we play hard, but we also work hard. Our monthly outdoor therapy session is filled with lots of playtime fun for the kids, but we also make time to talk and sit together to share feelings.⚽️🥎🏊‍♂️🫂

And at our weekly therapy sessions in Melkhoutfontein tannie Cobie puts a lot of love and attention into the TRE treatments and teachings. Her love for the children is tangible and the change in them is phenominal. 🧘🏽‍♀️❤️

Stillwater Kids is a registered NPO & PBO and able to issue Section 18A tax certificates.📄 If you or or your business therefor make a financial contribution to Stillwater Kids your donation can significantly lower your personal or corporate tax liability. 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐏𝐘 𝐈𝐍 𝐌𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍!

On 9 May 2026 Stillwater Kids had their monthly get-together on the beach in Stilbaai!

We were blessed with beautiful weather and everyone had a great time. 🌞The kids showed the adults a thing or two with their Rounders skills🥎, our fury friend Rolo🐶taught the kids some serious rugby skills 🏉and we are not sure who enjoyed playing in the sand more - the kids or the adults?🪣🪏

Thank you to our dear volunteers and leader, Cobi who give their time and so much love to these amazing kids. Thanks to you the Stillwater Kids have grown immensely - they display trust, love, respect and gratefulness. 🫶

Part of the Stillwater Kids therapy program involves Equine therapy - where horses are used to provide trust and a feeling of safety to children.

Equine therapy for children involves structured and guided interactions with horses to improve mental, physical, and emotional health. It benefits children with autism, ADHD, trauma, and anxiety by:

🔅fostering trust,
🔅enhancing social skills,
🔅improving emotional regulation,
🔅and boosting self-esteem.

Equine therapy sessions, often feel safer and less clinical than traditional therapy.

Areas of impact:

🐴Mental Health & Emotion Regulation:

Horses act as mirrors, reacting to a child's emotions, which helps children develop self-control, empathy, and social awareness. It is used to treat anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

🐴Social Skills Development:

It helps socially isolated, traumatised or withdrawn children by providing a safe, non-judgmental partner for communication.

🐴Physical Therapy (Hippotherapy):

When riding it uses the horse's movement to improve balance, posture, and sensory integration for children with motor skill challenges.

🐴Confidence Boost:

Caring for and leading a large animal increases a child's sense of capability and autonomy.

We are so proud of what the Stillwater Kids achieve in their time on the program. We learn so much from them - they show us what resilience is, that one can, with the right guidance, love and support overcome almost anything. They make what we do absolutely worthwhile - a million times over!🫶

Baie mense het ge-reageer oor die dooie dolfyn op die strand gedurende Paasnaweek.
We were there with our Kids and they made a grave and gave the dolphin a proper "funeral" .
During my sessions with them a week later, the super special kids that they are, decided to write a letter to the dolphin.....
