A huge thank you to everyone who came out and got their hands dirty at our clean-up day on Saturday! ❤️ We’re so grateful for every person who showed up, no matter their age, ready to tackle whatever job was needed.
We know rebuilding will be a long process, but there’s something beautiful about seeing our space slowly begin to look a little better again. One step at a time. There’s still a long way to go, and we’re so thankful to have such an incredible community walking alongside us.
If you’d like to support our fire rebuild, please head to our website: www.gloproject.org or our local backabuddy : https://www.backabuddy.co.za/campaign/hope-from-ashes-the-glo-project-fire-fund . Every bit of support helps us take the next step forward.

Local friends, some dear friends and neighbors have organized a cleanup day this Saturday to begin the process of removing some of the smoke damage from the fire.
As heartbreaking as this has been, it has also been incredible to watch our community, near and far, come together and support us. We are so incredibly thankful. ❤️
If you can join us for the cleanup Saturday, we would love to have you. If you’re unable to make it but would still like to help, a community member has created a BackaBuddy for us: https://www.backabuddy.co.za/campaign/hope-from-ashes-the-glo-project-fire-fund
We know this will be a long and difficult road, but we feel so blessed to have so many people standing alongside our family, our farm, The GLO Project, and the community we serve.
Thank you. ❤️

Early this morning, an electrical fire destroyed the main house at The GLO Project. Thankfully, everyone is safe, but we lost the space that has been at the center of so much of what we do.

This was our kitchen, classroom, office, and the place where children came after school for meals, homework help, skill development, mentoring, and time together. We are heartbroken, confused but determined to not let this set us back.

For now, asking for prayer and support as we rebuild. Please pray for our family, our team, the children and families we serve, and for wisdom as we figure out what comes next . If you’re able to donate, share this post, or simply keep The GLO Project and the children we serve in your prayers, we would really appreciate it.

We know rebuilding will take time, but we’re committed to continuing the work and coming back stronger than before. Thank you for standing with us. ❤️

Our after-school programs are rooted in play because children learn, grow, and build confidence when they have the freedom to explore, create, move, imagine, and have fun. 🧩🎨⚽️
Through play, kids develop problem-solving skills, learn how to work with others, build emotional resilience, and discover what they’re capable of—all while simply being kids.
We believe childhood should have plenty of room for laughter, creativity, and play. And that’s exactly what we’re creating through GLO:Outreach. ✨

Happy Women’s Day! 💕🌱
We’re so thankful for all the amazing women who work hard to grow and harvest our veggies. 👩🏽‍🌾❤️
Between our two farming locations and our partnership with the Social Employment Fund, 24 women are gaining hands-on experience in farming and entrepreneurship and building skills along the way. 🌿
And we can’t get over how beautiful these radishes are! 😍
If you’d like to support what we’re doing, join our veggie WhatsApp group: https://chat.whatsapp.com/Ggl8Z4aB0MiDuXzfsTUGB3?mode=gi_t and order some fresh produce, or consider donating to the project: www.gloproject.org Every bit of support helps us keep growing. 💚

Winter is in full swing on the farm. 🍊🌿💧
The orange tree is blooming, the dam is full, and after months of hard work, the farm is covered in new growth. There’s something special about watching the land come alive.
But for us, the farm is about more than growing food. It’s about creating opportunities, teaching practical skills, caring for creation, and building something that can serve our community for years to come.
Every tree planted, crop harvested, and lesson learned is part of a bigger picture — creating a place where people can learn, grow, and see what’s possible when we invest in both the land and the people who call our community home. 🌱

At The GLO Project, we believe healthy development is about more than what happens in a classroom.
Through sport, movement, and play, our kids are building confidence, learning teamwork, developing healthy habits, and discovering what their bodies are capable of. These moments may look simple, but they are an important part of helping young people grow into confident, healthy adults.
We want every child in our programs to have opportunities to learn, move, play, and thrive.
Want to be part of creating more opportunities like this? You can support our programs, volunteer your time or skills, or learn more about the work we’re doing at www.gloproject.org

Ten years ago today, I boarded a flight to South Africa with a backpack, a cheesy caption, a desire to explore, and no idea how much my life was about to change.
I had just finished high school. I was young, naïve, and simply wanted to spend a few months volunteering and figuring out life. I never could have imagined that one trip would shape the rest of my life—or become the beginning of a story that would impact so many others.
The friendships I built during that time became family. The experiences challenged me, changed my perspective, and planted a dream that would eventually grow into The GLO House and, today, the GLO Project.
Looking back, it’s incredible to think that everything we do today can be traced back to one simple decision to say “yes.” That first trip set me on a path I never could have planned. Today, that journey has grown into after-school programs, holiday camps, sustainable farming and food security initiatives, early childhood education, job creation, and opportunities to walk alongside hundreds of children and families.
If you had told 18-year-old me what the next ten years would hold, I don’t think I would have believed you.
I’m incredibly grateful for every person who has been part of this journey. To those who welcomed me, believed in the vision, volunteered, partnered with us, gave generously, and continue to support the work of the GLO Project—thank you. Your impact reaches far beyond what you may ever see.
Here’s to continuing to say “yes” to whatever comes next.
