Room 13 South Africa is a global creative arts programme that gives young people in under-resourced communities access to professional studio space. These works were created by the next generation of South African artists - and now they’re yours to own.
How it works: Silent auction lots (8–12) - write your bid on the sheet next to each piece on the night. Highest bid wins. Live auction lots (13–14) - raise your hand. 🎨
Lot 13: Danger (Cigarette) by Lethabo Makau (Live auction - opening bid R15,000)
Lethabo Makau is 14, grade 8, and wants to be a graphic designer and animator with his own studio. His piece Danger is a campaign in paint - born from growing up around substance abuse and wanting to create something that pushes back against it. This is art with a message, and it belongs on a wall where people will see it. 🎨

Lot 14: Giraffe (Close Friends) by Sabata Nkota (Live auction - opening bid R15,000)
Sabata Nkota is 15, grade 9, and dreams of becoming a construction engineer - but he’s not putting the brush down either. His piece is about close friends, shared plans, and the people who study and grow beside you. He hopes it finds a home where it brings hope and peace, and that you tell your friends where it comes from. 🦒

Lot 8: Bull by Rethabile Molatela (Silent auction)
Meet Rethabile Molatela, 14 years old, grade 8, and already dreaming of owning his own art studio. His piece Pooho (Bull) was inspired by the strength and power of the bull - a mirror, he says, of the hard work it takes to balance school and art. He hopes this work finds a home where it brings hope and peace. We hope you’ll help make that happen. 🐂
