In Santo Domingo, Ecuador, the room was filled with colour, conversation, and purpose. Mayor Wilson Erazo Argoti sat beside Siphiwe Ngwenya, Founder of the Maboneng Township Arts Experience, as a new Cultural Exchange Agreement was signed — connecting communities of South Africa and Ecuador through art, hospitality, and education. This partnership forms part of the South Africa and Nations Arts and Travel Initiative — an ongoing collaboration that turns township homes and community spaces into living classrooms and cultural infrastructure. It’s about building professional, locally paid systems that circulate income and knowledge across the Global South. This is not a one-time visit. It’s daily work — connecting artists, educators, and cultural entrepreneurs across continents.
