CERT CENTURION | JOHN VORSTER DRIVE, CENTURION

🚨 MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION LEAVES TWO PATIENTS ENTRAPPED.

On Friday evening at approximately 23:50, the CERT Centurion crews responded to a motor vehicle collision on John Vorster Drive, Centurion.

Upon arrival, crews found two male patients trapped inside the vehicle. The Tshwane Emergency Services Department were requested to assist with the extrication. Both patients were successfully freed from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life.

Following their extrication, both patients were stabilised on scene before being transported to a nearby medical facility for further medical care.

CERT CENTURION | R511, LAEZONIA

On Tuesday afternoon at approximately 13:30, the CERT Centurion crews responded to a collision involving a light motor vehicle and a stationary truck on the R511 near Laezonia, Centurion.

The driver of the light motor vehicle sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital in a stable condition by Gauteng Emergency Medical Services.

CERT CENTURION | N1 HIGHWAY, CENTURION

MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION LEAVES MOTHER AND TWO CHILDREN INJURED

On Monday evening at approximately 22h30, CERT Centurion crews responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle collision on the N1 highway near the John Vorster Road off-ramp in Centurion.

Upon arrival, crews found that a single motor vehicle had left the roadway, collided with a roadside barrier and travelled down an embankment.

A woman in her thirtiess and her two young children were reportedly ejected from the vehicle during the collision.

The mother and a boy, approximately 2 years old, sustained serious injuries, while a girl, approximately 4 years old, sustained moderate injuries.

All three patients received medical attention and were stabilised on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital by Nels EMS for further medical care.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear at this stage.

MOTORCYCLE COLLISION LEAVES RIDER INJURED

On Monday afternoon at approximately 13:20, the CERT Centurion crews responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and a van at the intersection of Ruimte Road and Willem Botha Road in Wierdapark, Centurion.

Upon arrival, our crews attended to a motorcycle rider who had sustained moderate to serious injuries. The patient was stabilised on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital in a stable condition by Emer-G-Med.

The driver of the van was reported to be uninjured.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear at this stage.

MAN ASSISTED FOLLOWING SNAKEBITE INCIDENT

On Saturday evening at approximately 19:16, the CERT Centurion crews responded to a snakebite incident at a smallholding near Laezonia, on the outskirts of Centurion.

Upon arrival, our crews attended to a male patient who had sustained a snakebite while working in a field. The patient was assessed and stabilised on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment.

The patient was reported to be in a stable condition upon the arrival of emergency personnel.

We would like to thank Emer-G-Med and all other services on scene for their assistance, professionalism and coordination.

SNAKEBITE SAFETY REMINDER | STAY VIGILANT

With warmer weather increasing snake activity, community members are encouraged to remain vigilant, particularly when working outdoors, walking through long grass, or spending time in areas with dense vegetation.

If someone is bitten by a snake:

- Remain calm: Keep movement to a minimum to help slow the spread of venom.
- Keep still: Immobilise the affected limb as far as possible.
- Seek medical assistance immediately: Do not wait for symptoms to develop.
- Avoid harmful remedies: Never cut the wound, attempt to suck out venom, or apply a tourniquet.
- Do not approach the snake: Do not attempt to catch or kill it. If safe, remember its appearance to help medical personnel identify it.

A snakebite should always be treated as a medical emergency, even if the patient initially appears to be stable.

CERT CENTURION | N14

TRUCK ENGULFED IN FLAMES FOLLOWING COLLISION

On Wednesday afternoon at approximately 15:25, the CERT Centurion crews responded to a collision involving two heavy motor vehicles on the N14 towards Pretoria, just before the Jean Avenue off-ramp.

Upon arrival, one of the trucks was found engulfed in flames, partially obstructing the highway.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Fire and rescue personnel worked to bring the fire under control and extinguish the blaze.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear at this stage.

MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION LEAVES ONE PERSON MODERATELY INJURED

On Saturday evening at approximately 20:40, the CERT Centurion crews responded to a motor vehicle collision on the R55 near Stone Ridge Estate in Heuweloord, Centurion.

Upon arrival, it was established that a light motor vehicle had collided with a utility vehicle towing a trailer.

One person sustained moderate injuries and was stabilised on scene before being transported to a nearby medical facility by emergency medical services for further medical evaluation and treatment.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear at this stage. The Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) attended the scene and opened an accident report.

ELDERLY MALE ASSISTED FOLLOWING HEAT EXHAUSTION

On Friday evening at approximately 18:15, the CERT Centurion crews responded to a medical emergency involving an elderly male who was suffering from heat exhaustion and severe dehydration.

The patient was assessed and stabilised on scene before being transported by Gauteng Emergency Medical Services (GPG EMS) to a nearby medical facility in a stable condition.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Wierda Brug Sector 1 CPF and Gauteng Emergency Medical Services for their assistance and cooperation on scene.

Safety reminder: Stay hydrated, especially during hot weather. Drink water regularly and watch for signs of heat exhaustion, including dizziness, weakness, excessive sweating, and confusion. Seek medical assistance if symptoms are severe or worsen.

PATIENT ASSISTED FOLLOWING DIABETIC EMERGENCY

On Friday afternoon at approximately 17:00, the CERT Vaal crews responded to a medical emergency in Ophir AH, near Meyerton.

Upon arrival, our crews were met with a patient experiencing a diabetic emergency.

The patient was assessed and stabilised on scene before being transported to hospital by Gauteng Emergency Medical Services.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Gauteng Emergency Medical Services for their assistance and cooperation.

Safety reminder: If someone with diabetes becomes confused, weak, or loses consciousness, seek emergency medical assistance. Do not give food or drink to someone who is unconscious.
