Nigel Clean-Up Initiative

Dear Nigel residents

I am Ilze Willemse and I am the founder and Public Relations for Nigel Clean Up. At Nigel Clean Up, we seek to help the Municipality to keep Nigel clean and a town to be super proud of.

This time of the year is very difficult for us, as for each and every household. As you can see the rain that we desperty needed has put us in a difficult position. We can not get to all the areas where our help is needed which means that our town does not look the same way it did last year. 😟

While we have made some great strides, Nigel Clean Up still has a lot to accomplish. This we can not do without your help 🙏🏻. We have one company that puts tens of thousands of Rands into this town, I have the utmost respect for the owners of that company, and I know there are other companies out there that can help us we are not asking for thousands if every company can give let's say R500 a month it would be a huge help. If every household that can afford it contribute R50 a month it would be amazing.

We need your support to keep doing what we doing.

Would you please consider donating to help us achieve our mission?🙏🏻It does not have to be cash,
- you can donate oil, 2stroke, diesel, petrol, paraffin for the equipment.
- You can donate bushcutters or other machinery.
- your time volunteering to help clean certain areas

These are just a few examples. If you have ride-on tractors you can volunteer to help us cut if we supply petrol.

If there are farmers willing to send in a tractor and slasher you are more than welcome to bale the grass and keep it for yourself.

Oh dear! What a bummer!

The Kingsway Park Glow Up Event had to take a rain check for tomorrow, June 15, 2024. 😢

We're short on hands, paint, and all the jazz needed to jazz up the park. Fingers crossed we can give it another shot down the road!

But hey, we're calling out to all superheroes out there - your magical touch is what we need to make this dream a reality!

‼️𝗨𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗣 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗𝗘𝗗‼️

Over the past years the incidents of gender-based violence has increased significantly, which has resulted in the victim empowerment centres (VECs) at police stations being overburdened with cases. The VEC’s provide a range of services targeted at individuals who have suffered harm, trauma and/or material loss through violence, crime, natural disaster, human accidents and/or through socio economic conditions.

At this stage the victims of 𝙉𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙡, 𝘼𝙡𝙧𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙠 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙈𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙣𝙯𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙚 has no safe haven. We urge you to open your hearts and to please help us make Nigel's VEC a true place of safety again.

We do not need new equipment second hand will do just fine. Herewith is a short list of the basics we needs to get the VEC back to a real place of safety.

Bring the whole squad, big or small! If you're up for it, join the fun and lend a hand - superhero capes optional!!

Oh no, folks! Update alert: Our grand KINGSWAY PARK RENOVATION shindig is hitting the snooze button to Saturday, June 15, 2024. We spotted some party clashes on June 1, 2024, and didn't want to rain on anyone's parade.

Save the new date, pretty please!

But hey, mark your calendars for June 15, 2024! We're still on the hunt for these goodies to rock our renovation bash:

On Saturday, May 18, 2024, we will once again be selling Boerie Rolls at the Ferryvale Spar.

This time, it will be extra special as Villa Liberi Children's Home will be joining us. Unfortunately, they are facing challenges due to cuts in their Social Development Subsidy and need support to care for the children placed in their care. We are organizing a FOOD DONATION DRIVE for Villa Liberi and they need our assistance.

Here are the items they require on a monthly basis:
1. Non-perishable Food Items
2. Meat Products
3. Fruits & Vegetables
4. Cereals, Bread
5. Toiletries for boys and girls

Feel free to contribute any household items you can to help! Or drop of the donation items at the Children's Home, when you have time.

Calling all Volunteers! We need your help on the 1st of June 2024!

We have launched our Kingsway Park Renovation Project.
Planned for the day:

- Painting Play Park Equipment
- RE-Painting the Mural
- Maintenance on Play Park Equipment
- Planting some Trees
- Installation of New Bins from our Bin Project
- River Sand for sand pit (and some salt to keep the cats away)
- Repairing broken swings

What we will need:
1. QD Enamel Paint - Excelsior QD Enamel 3 in 1(Red, Green, Yellow, Blue)
2. Paint brushes, Paint Trays, Rollers, Drop Sheets
3. Grease and Q20
4. River Sand (2cubes)
5. Conveyor Belt for new Swing Seats
6. 8mm Chains for Swings & U-Bolt and Lock Tight
7. Waterwise trees to plant in the park
8. Bolt Cutters
9. Paint for the new Mural!
10. Cement to plant new BINS!
