DUDUZA SAPS WELCOMES THE NEW ACTING STATION COMMANDER, LT.COL PH KHAMBULA*

The Ekurhuleni District Office has appointed Lt.Col Pogiso Hendrick Khambula as the Acting Station Commander of Duduza SAPS effective 2025-09-29.

Lt.Col Khambula was first appointed in the SAPS in 1994-01-21 and has been serving within the organisation for thirty one (31) years.

He started his policing career working in the Internal Stability Division Unit 19 in Pretoria from 1994-1996. From 1996-2007 he worked at the Public Order Policing (POPS) West Rand in Chamdor Krugersdorp. Lt.Col Khambula then went on to be the Vispol Commander of Hekpoort SAPS in Magliesburg were he worked from 2007-2009.

Lt.Col Khambula's passion for Public Order Policing lead him back to serving under the Public Order Policing in Johannesburg in 2009-2018.

His hard work and dedication to the service saw him being promoted to the rank of a Captain serving as the Vispol Support Commander in Thembisa during the year 2018-2022.

From 2022 to the first few months of 2024, Lt.Col Khambula showed his stern and impactful leadership skills serving as the Vispol Commander and the Acting Station Commander of Sebenza SAPS until he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel stationed at Ivory Park SAPS as the Operational Commander in 2024-11-01.

His resilience did not go unnoticed as he was deployed to serve as the Acting Station Commander of Putfontein in Benoni for about two(02) months before being redeployed to serve the community of Duduza.

Lt.Col Khambula expressed that when he first arrived at Duduza SAPS, he noticed that the station was destabilised. His first priority will be to stabilise the station. His second priority is to reduce crime in Duduza by involving all the stakeholders. His third priority which he regards as being the most important one is to encourage all the members of Duduza SAPS to know their "Four Whiskey's and Hotel: "
- WHY are they here?
- WHO are they serving?
- WHAT are they serving?

With over three(3) decades of service and about nine(9) years left until he considers retirement, Lt.Col Khambula strongly believes that through his operational guidance, members of Duduza SAPS can be inspired and pick a few chapters of knowledge and wisdom from his book of life. He further expressed that he believes that just by making one person feel special while serving them, you will make their day and in turn, they will go out there and spread the gospel.

When asked about how he would like to be remembered by the community of Duduza, Lt.Col Khambula answered with a big and warm smile and said, " When I leave the community of Duduza, I want to be remembered as a man who was forever smiling and very helpful but do not take any chances because I know what I'm doing!"

With all of his accolades and experience, Lt.Col Khambula is ready to serve and protect the community of Duduza while leaving an unforgettable mark.
