Stronger support for ECD.
We were privileged to be part of yesterday’s ECD Imbizo in Worcester, in collaboration with Real Reform for ECD and The Do More Foundation.

Under the banner “Make Local Government Work for ECD”, the gathering provided a platform for ECD teachers and leaders to raise their needs and call for clear commitments from candidates and political parties in the Breede Valley.

Through our work with ECD centres in Worcester, we see the dedication that goes into caring for young children every day. Practical support from local government is essential to help centres provide safe, nurturing spaces where children can learn and grow.

Thank you to Real Reform for ECD and everyone who contributed to this important conversation. We value the opportunity to stand alongside the ECD community and work towards stronger foundations for our youngest children. 💛

Before we were the Inceba team ...🩷
Before we were mentors, programme leaders, administrators and the people behind Inceba, we were children imagining what we might become.

A doctor. A movie star. Each of us had our own answer.

Our childhood dreams offer a little glimpse of the people who make up our team. Today, our different skills and experiences come together around a shared purpose: helping children grow with care, confidence and hope.

We cannot know what each child will become. But we can help nurture the foundations from which they will grow.

For ten years, that has been the heart of Inceba.

Looking closer. Caring better. 🩷
In 2026, our nutrition and school-readiness assessments helped us better understand children’s needs - and find ways to respond through referrals, classroom activities and focused support.

With Heartshine and other partners we explored how adversity affects learning and how everyday care can help children feel safe and supported.

We also began piloting pathways with Hugenote Kollege to help experienced practitioners further their studies and work towards recognised qualifications.

As we celebrate ten years, we’re still learning from children and the people who care for them.

Our circle grew. 💜
New places opened up, new ideas came to life and new stories nurtured hope. In 2024, our work extended into Ritchie (Kimberley) and began growing in Worcester.

With FNB, we piloted Dlala Play in Ritchie, bringing practical, play-based learning into classrooms. Inceba Kids also began as a pilot, using Bible stories and activities to help children know they are loved and created with purpose.

In 2022, our work came together around a clearer purpose: preparing children in body, mind and soul.

Nutrition and health support, classroom programmes and early school-readiness assessments, Book Sharing and Legacy Dad helped build a fuller circle of care around children.

A turning point.
COVID changed how we worked, and deepened our understanding of what ECD centres needed.

Across 2020 and 2021, toy-library assistants became area mentors, marking a lasting shift towards ongoing, practical support. Through our ECD relationships, food parcels and vouchers also reached families facing difficult days.

The Drakenstein ECD Support Programme (DESP) brought partners together around nutrition, registration and stronger centres - extending our support beyond early-learning programmes.
