[PETITION]

๐Ÿ“š Joburg Deserves Libraries That Are Accessible!

All City of Johannesburg libraries have been closed on Saturdays denying thousands of residents access to books, study spaces, internet, and community programmes on the one day many people are free.

Learners need space to study. Job seekers need internet access. Communities need safe spaces to gather. Saturday closures are letting them all down.

The Joburg Crisis Alliance, Friends of the Johannesburg Public Libraries NPC, and the Johannesburg Heritage Foundation are calling on the City of Johannesburg to reopen libraries on Saturdays.

[Featured] on Midrand Reporter | Ivory Park Residents Demand Accountability ๐Ÿ“ข๐Ÿ

The Joburg Crisis Alliance (JCA) recently hosted a vital community engagement at Penelope Secondary School, bringing together Ivory Park residents to talk about the power of the vote ahead of the 2026 local government elections.

The meeting saw a strong presence of young people ready to engage, but the frustrations were clear. Residents shared their loss of confidence in a system where leaders often disappear once the ballots are cast.

Key issues raised:

Small Business Struggles: Internet cafรฉ owners and entrepreneurs spoke about how unreliable electricity is crippling their ability to earn an income.

Infrastructure Decay: Potholes and poor roads continue to affect daily life and safety.

Voter Empowerment: JCA focused on how informed voting is the only way to hold representatives accountable for service delivery.

At JCA, we believe that an informed citizen is a powerful citizen. Ivory Park is ready for change.

[STATEMENT] Johannesburg Kept in the Dark as Eskom Threat Looms ๐Ÿ”Œโš ๏ธ

The Johannesburg Crisis Alliance (JCA) says residents and businesses are being kept in the dark over Eskomโ€™s threatened interruption of electricity supply to Johannesburg.

Residents, businesses, property owners, civic organisations, and investors are being asked to absorb the risk of a major electricity dispute without the facts they need to protect their livelihoods.

The public still has not been told the full nature of the dispute, the Cityโ€™s obligations, the status of negotiations, or what is being done to prevent a catastrophic crisis. That uncertainty puts service continuity, business planning, investment confidence, and household preparedness at immediate risk.

What makes this situation even more serious is the breakdown in leadership communication. Public statements by senior government and City leaders previously suggested the matter had been resolved, telling Johannesburg residents the City was โ€œtoo big to failโ€ and that the threat was under control.

The JCA calls on City leadership and Eskom

to put the public first, lay out the facts, and resolve this dispute transparently.

On the ground today for a vital civic engagement session. ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

As a non-partisan initiative, our goal is strictly focused on empowering the community through voter education.

We are here to unpack the electoral process, share reliable information, and ensure that every individual feels confident and equipped to exercise their constitutional right. ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธโœจ

One day to go! ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆโœจ

Walking in the dark because there are no streetlights is a failure of the system and the only way to change the system is to understand our collective power.

Tomorrow, the Joburg Crisis Alliance (JCA) invites the community of Ivory Park, Region A, to a critical Community Meeting.

The youth of '26 have a responsibility to honor '76 by stepping up, getting educated, and making their voices heard.

As a non-partisan alliance, the JCA wonโ€™t tell you WHO to vote for. Instead, we are here to engage on WHAT you should vote for equipping you with voter education to match your vote with the future you deserve.

Come through, bring your neighbors, and letโ€™s start talking about Elections 2026.
