Africa Unite invites young people, community members, civil society organisations and other interested stakeholders to participate in our Pre-Local Government Elections Youth and Community Dialogue, aimed at shaping a shared vision for responsive, accountable and participatory local government.

The dialogue will explore three key questions: What kind of local government do we want? What kind of leadership do our communities need? And what role should citizens play in building effective local governance?

Your participation will contribute to developing a Community Manifesto that reflects community priorities, expectations and commitments beyond the ballot box.

Growing Hope, Nurturing Change: A Meaningful Visit from SAAYC National

Today, In-touch Youth Development And Community Justice had the privilege and honour of welcoming representatives from SAAYC National to our food security project, where they witnessed firsthand the work we are doing on the ground to promote sustainable food production, community empowerment, and self-reliance.

The visit was more than an opportunity to showcase our work; it was a meaningful moment of knowledge-sharing, inspiration, and mutual motivation. It reaffirmed our belief that real change begins when communities take action, cultivate opportunities, and work together towards a more sustainable future.

At Intouch, we believe that food security is not merely about putting food on the table; it is about restoring dignity, strengthening resilience, creating opportunities, and empowering communities to become part of their own solutions.

We are deeply grateful to Southern African Association of Youth Clubs (SAAYC) National for taking the time to visit, engage with our work, and share in our vision. Such engagements inspire us to keep pushing boundaries, learning from one another, and doing even more for the communities we serve.

Our journey continues, our commitment remains unwavering, and our vision grows stronger with every seed planted and every life touched.

Today, In-touch Youth Development And Community Justice, together with Ufuzo Agriculture, took environmental action in Tjovitjo Informal Settlement through an impactful Outreach and Cleaning Campaign focused on Air Pollution, Air Quality and a Clean Environment.

Approximately 50 participants came together to clean an illegal dumping site and, importantly, to create a space for awareness, dialogue and community reflection.

As part of the campaign, we deliberately created a “crime scene” around the illegal dumping site, not to criminalise people, but to trigger a powerful conversation: What happens when the environment becomes the victim? Who is affected? Who is responsible? And what can we do differently?

The exercise created an opportunity for residents and participants to look beyond the waste itself and understand the deeper connection between illegal dumping, environmental degradation, air pollution, public health and community wellbeing.

The message is clear: the environment cannot speak for itself, but our communities can speak for it. Every illegal dumping site is a call for action, education, accountability and collective responsibility.

Today, 50 people did more than pick up waste. They picked up a conversation. They raised awareness. They demonstrated that change is possible when communities stand together.

We will continue taking awareness into communities, turning dialogue into action and action into lasting change.

Clean environment. Better air. Healthier communities. Together, we can breathe better. Together, we can protect our environment. Together, we can create change, one community at a time.

...Today, our NYS team was at our farm in Vlaakfontein, Vereeniging, preparing basins for our orchard trees and getting the land ready for the new planting season.

What a powerful and refreshing connection with the environment. Working the soil reminds us that sustainable change begins with our hands in the earth, planting today for a greener, healthier and more resilient tomorrow.
