Wind + Fuel + Relative Humidity = Fire Danger

You’ve reduced fuel loads - now consider the next risk: wind.

In the Western Cape, strong winds can turn small fires into fast-moving veldfires.

What increases the danger?
➡️ Overgrown invasive vegetation
➡️ Dry, unmanaged fuel loads
➡️ No defensible space

🔥 Wind-driven fires spread faster, burn hotter, and are harder to control.

Although it is known, landowners tend to let this slip during the winter months, which is EXACTLY when land owners should be focusing on preparation and cleaning ahead of the summer months.

Winter prep now = less risk in summer.

What may seem like a tedious task is actually a critical one - land and vegetation management. EVS teams, working with Enviro Wildfire Consultancy Pty Ltd - Western Cape, have been assisting land owners in this task. Critical part of ensuring that fuel load is reduced and thus wild fires more easily combated. Even more critical is to ensure vegetation around, or close to urban areas is cut back and properly managed. Hard work, but a good braai afterwards makes up for the slog. Thanks to the team.

Today our team went out to help Paula Terry to deliver much needed food and supplies to the Red Hill folk. It's the legacy our friend Deon left for us and the way his family, friends and colleagues wanted to remember him - always lending a helping hand and putting others needs first. We remember you Deon. Thank you Paula for inviting us. Building resilient communities. Together.
