The 6 Principles of Veldfire Management 🔥

The CPFPA follows the Western Cape Provincial Veld Fire Plan in guiding veldfire management across the region.

The key principles include:
1. Protecting human life first
2. Building resilient communities
3. Supporting landowner involvement
4. Working together through a coordinated approach
5. Managing veldfire risk proactively
6. Learning through experience, science & local knowledge

Effective veldfire management depends on preparation, collaboration, and responsible land
management.

Sanlam Marathon is now part of the 'Big League' of global 'ones to run' alongside Boston, Sydney, London and others. Well done Sanlam Cape Town Marathon 2026 Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis JP Smith. Objective achieved. Our team of EVS marshals from the Far South is proud to have helped in some small way, alongside the 100's of others who all pitched in. For the last couple of years the team has been up and on the road by 3am. Ready, areas checked, safety sweeps done by 4.45am, in place are ready to go. Then on their feet, guiding, helping, keeping a watchful eye, keeping atheletes and the public safe, cheering them on and adding that 'Kaapse gees'. Long day on ones feet. Wrap up after 4pm. BUT....still all smiles. Another great milestone in making CT a better, safer place that people want to come to.
