WESSA Umngeni Valley Nature Reserve WESSA uMngeni Valley Nature Reserve is situated 1 km from Howick at the base of the majestic Howick Falls.

It is a 950 Ha outdoor classroom, and was recently declared a protected nature reserve in 2019.

WESSA uMngeni Valley is proud to celebrate Xolani Mahlangu on his achievement in the SEF Phase 4 Business Project winner of CapitalQuest Funding.

The achievement was celebrated ANEW Hotels & Resorts a collaborative initiative between WESSA and DUCT .

Through the Social Employment Fund (SEF) Phase 4 Programme, Xolani has taken an exciting step towards entrepreneurship and building a sustainable livelihood through his business, Mabhoko Brush Cutting.

OUR POWER, OUR PLANET!

WESSA uMngeni Valley was proud to be part of the Happy Earth Festival at the KZN National Botanical Gardens on 19 August 2026

Our team spent the day connecting, educating and inspiring through interactive environmental experiences from climate change discussions and pollution talks to touch-and-feel activities featuring endangered animals, engaging icebreakers, Q&As and teacher resource packs.

It was a wonderful opportunity to share what WESSA does and remind everyone that creating a healthier planet starts with knowledge, action and each one of us.
