African Insight Academy We offer inspirational, educational and empowering experiential learning field trips for learners from high school level through to post graduate level.

African Insight Academy offers world-class experiential learning field trips and ethical conservation-focused volunteering internships. Field trips are tailor-made to meet required outcomes. We hold a British Standards Institute BS8848 health and safety accreditation specifically developed for educational field trips and adventurous journeys abroad. To date, we have hosted over 12,000 students from all over the world on life-changing experiences.

🌿 Northwood High School Grade 9 Kosi Bay Adventure 🌿
Kosi Bay is one of South Africa's most remarkable ecosystems. This unique landscape of interconnected lakes, coastal forests, estuaries and pristine beaches supports extraordinary biodiversity while sustaining communities that have lived alongside nature for generations.
Northwood High School Grade 9 learners were welcomed with a traditional Thonga dinner, offering a wonderful introduction to the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Over the coming days, students will embark on an immersive learning journey exploring the famous 700-year-old Thonga fish traps, discovering the ecology of this unique coastal environment, and gaining insight into the traditions, knowledge and way of life of the local people. Through shared adventure, cultural exchange and hands-on learning, Kosi Bay provides a powerful classroom without walls.

Today, on Youth Day, we celebrate the energy, curiosity and potential of young people to shape a better future for our planet.

The future of biodiversity conservation will not be determined solely by scientists, governments or conservation organisations. It will depend on whether the next generation develops a genuine connection with the natural world and a deep respect for the landscapes, ecosystems and species that sustain life on Earth.

At African Insight Academy, we believe that meaningful conservation begins with experience. A young person standing on a mountain summit in the Drakensberg, watching the sunrise over Kosi Bay, or sitting quietly beneath an acacia tree in the African bushveld is not simply observing nature — they are building a relationship with it.

Because the reality is simple:

**We do not protect that which we do not love.**

When young people are given the opportunity to explore wild places, reflect on their place in the world and experience the wonder of biodiversity firsthand, they begin to understand why these places matter. That understanding grows into appreciation. Appreciation grows into respect. Respect grows into stewardship.

The challenges facing our planet are significant, but so too is the potential of today's youth.

This Youth Day, let us commit to creating opportunities for young people to connect with nature, develop environmental leadership and become the custodians of the natural world that future generations will depend upon.
