It was already going-home time for most of the school when we started our Grade 12 workshop under the trees at Khabazela, but the learners were very enthusiastic and responsive even as the sun began to sink in the sky. We then signed up the top learners for support with their university applications through CAO, adding another ten to our WhatsApp groups.

HABandBF has been helping Matrics at Thabela High School for at least ten years, and we were back there again this May to encourage the whole class to keep their career dream in mind an=s they plan for next year, and to sign up the top ten for help with university applications. We were able to report that five of last year's top ten are studying STEM subjects at universities spread across South Africa, and we wish the Class of 2026 every success.

It always feels like an adventure criss-crossing the Molweni to visit Tholulwazi Secondary School, and we are always made very welcome. We were there again recently, to talk to Grade 12 about career choice and making successful applications, and to sign up the high fliers for assistance with the application process. We have recently heard that all of the top ten have now applied, and we look forward to learning of their success.

This is our third year of working with Siphesihle, and the second time we have been able to sponsor the top ten's application fees to CAO. We were very encouraged to see that seven of the top ten are pursuing STEM subjects and have high aspirations. We wish them all the very best and look forward to hearing of their success.

We handed over sponsorship money for Central Applications Office fees for the top ten learners and are now keeping in touch with them by WhatsApp. We wish them all every success. of 2026

For our first second term workshop we were back at Kwantebeni, where we shared hints on making a successful university application and taught Grade 12 how to research their dream and measure their academic performance against entry requirements. We met the top learners, whom we shall be keeping in touch with as they navigate the transition from school to university.
