🌧️ URGENT UPDATE - Second Storm in Two Weeks

The refugees in Durban have been hit by severe rain again, over 20ml in a single night. This is the second time in two weeks they've been left cold and exposed.

A massive thank you to everyone who donated previously, your support allowed us to purchase enough heavy duty tarps to cover 55 metres of the road for the refugees.

The tarps provided mostly cover them from above, but they are still being lashed by wind and rain from behind, against the fences where they are camped.

We urgently need additional tarpaulins to create full protection. Without tarps behind them, rain blows in from behind, wind cuts through sheltered areas, and families remain cold and wet.

What we need now:
- More heavy-duty tarpaulins (550gsm or 180gsm polyethylene)
- Lightweight tarpaulins (50 - 100 gsm)
- Rope, tent poles, fastening materials

Because of your donations to Imifino_NPO, the Siyafana Sonke team has finally been able to buy medicine for the refugee community this weekend.

This is a significant moment, many of them have been without medication for six weeks!

The medications will be handed directly to a team of doctors who will meet with each person individually.

This is happening because of the R5,400 raised through our fundraiser. Thank you to everyone who donated and shared our campaign. Let's keep sharing so we can get more essentials for our refugees ✨

450 forcibly displaced, documented, legal refugees - including women, infants and young children - are sleeping on the pavement outside Durban Home Affairs this winter. They have been there for over a month. They have been chased from their homes and have nowhere else to go.

Every official channel has been contacted and have failed to respond. The people showing up every single day are all volunteers - feeding, clothing, and caring for these families out of pocket and on goodwill.

We cannot keep doing it without your help.

You don't need to do it all. Give once, give monthly, or simply share this post with five people. Small acts, multiplied by enough of us, are how 450 people make it through this humanitarian crisis.
