🇿🇦✨ YOUTH DAY 2026 ✨🇿🇦

We celebrated Youth Day with our young adults and Adult Day Care beneficiaries at the centre.

The programme was opened and welcomed by Miss Ganief, followed by a beautiful and inspiring Youth Day message delivered by Miss Noble.

One of the highlights of the day was our Talent Show, where our beneficiaries had the opportunity to showcase their amazing talents. Some sang, some danced, one participant shared a touching story about caring for others, while another encouraged everyone to join in reciting Psalm 23. It was truly a beautiful and heartwarming moment.

Every performance was unique and special. Watching the confidence, joy, enthusiasm, and courage displayed by each participant was nothing short of inspiring. Seeing our beneficiaries step forward, express themselves, and celebrate their abilities reminded us why days like these are so important.

The celebration continued with a certificate ceremony, where participants were recognised for their achievements. The pride on their faces as they received their certificates was priceless and a reminder that recognition, encouragement, and inclusion can make a lasting impact.

This is what we live for.To nurture the hearts of our youth, build their confidence, celebrate their strengths, and create opportunities for them to shine. We believe that every young person deserves to feel valued, heard, and empowered to reach their full potential.

As we celebrated, we were reminded that every voice matters and that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow. 🌟

A sincere thank you to everyone who contributed to making this day so special. Your support, encouragement, and dedication helped create meaningful memories that will be treasured for a long time.

💙 Happy Youth Day from all of us at APD! 💙

This Youth Day, let’s shift the question. Instead of asking, “What barriers do young people with disabilities face?”

What if we asked: What are we missing by not listening closely enough?
Across the Western Cape, young people with disabilities are:
• Reimagining education.
• Building businesses.
• Creating culture in ways that challenge the ordinary.
• Leading conversations that move us all forward.

They’re not waiting for a seat at the table. They’re redesigning the table itself. Youth Day is about courage.

Today, courage looks like building systems that don’t ask young people to squeeze in but shift, adapt, and grow because of them.

Let’s move from inclusion as an afterthought to inclusion as a starting point.

🌟 Basic Skills in Action! 🌟

Our Senior Class has been working hard on developing important life skills during their Basic Skills sessions with Juffrou Sarah. Through engaging group activities, learners are practicing turn-taking, staying focused, and following instructions.

With guidance and encouragement, each learner is building confidence and strengthening these essential skills in a supportive and positive environment. We are proud of their progress and the effort they put into learning every day! 💙✨

When people with disabilities are excluded from education, it reflects a complex, progressive and ongoing social process of being 'excluded'.

Children excluded from education are often also excluded from developmental benefits in general.

We must invest in education for everyone, including children and youth with disabilities. Our future depends on it!"
