Still looking back on an amazing Child Protection Week 💚

One of our highlights: A morning at St. Paul’s Primary School with the Grade 1s

Through puppetry + play, we taught body safety in a way little ones understand: “Your body belongs to you. It’s okay to say no. Tell a trusted adult.”

Big lessons, delivered with laughter. Because protecting children starts with giving them the words + confidence to speak up.

Thank you St. Paul’s Primary for opening your doors and hearts to this conversation. This is what “Working together in ending violence against children” looks like.

Meet Mieke*, 15, and Zack*, 12. 💛
These siblings have been together in care since 2024 after being removed from their mother’s care due to severe mental illness and neglect. The biological father who cared for them for many years, also now denies paternity.

Their current foster family loves them deeply. But due to changing family needs, they can’t continue long-term.

What they need now: A safe, stable home where they can stay together.

Fostering isn’t about being perfect. It’s about showing up.
If you’ve ever considered opening your home, this could be your moment. 🏡

And that’s a wrap on Child Protection Week 2026 💚

We closed with a fun-filled morning all about restoring the gift of play. Laughter, puppets, singing, dancing — because every child deserves to feel safe AND have fun.

Our puppet show opened tough but important conversations on abuse and body safety in a way children could understand: “Your body belongs to you.”

We also treated the staff of Sonneblomland crèche with Kuumba cupcakes 🧁

PROTECT CHILDREN, RESTORE THEIR CHILDHOOD 💚
One (or two) hour of play at Joeys Babies
The children had the opportunity to decorate their own cupcakes, paint hands, listen to a puppet show and enjoy running and catching bubbles 🫧 🎨 🧁

A big thank you to Mayor Marais Kruger who also spent the morning with us. We are grateful for leadership who shows commitment to keeping children safe, seen and protected.

Child Protection Week 2026 is officially underway 💚

We kicked off under the theme “Working together in ending violence against children.”

The day started with creativity: our art competition for the grade 6’s and 7’s to design the best Child Protection Week poster. Young artists blew us away with messages of hope, safety, and care. Winners walked away with Wimpy milkshake vouchers — because big ideas deserve sweet rewards 🥤

Then we took the school’s rugby field for a silent march. No words, just presence. A powerful reminder that protecting children is everyone’s responsibility. Every step said what we couldn’t: we see you, we stand for you, we won’t stay silent.

This week is about action, not just awareness. Together, we can end violence against children.
