Our commercial enterprise, a mission-driven farm, invests 100% of profits into our feeding program, an investment in the children of Ubuntu Mundo. This model creates a cycle of sustainability. We’re not just feeding children today — we’re engineering a solution that is built to last. We are working to ending food insecurity for years to come.

More land means more jobs. More revenue means more meals. More growth means more hope.

And they’re off!

Over the past weeks, this team of cyclists has shared our story and raised funds for our programs, and now they are cruising through New York City for the children of Ubuntu Mundo.

This is the inaugural Five Boro Bike Tour for Friends of Ubuntu Mundo and we are so grateful for their efforts. This group of riders is half a world away from South Africa, yet their hearts stretch across the ocean in the true spirit of ubuntu — I am because we are.

Ubuntu Mundo has been feeding children since 2016 and today we serve hot, nutritious meals to 1,500 children every day. Our supporters from around the world make this possible. Thank you!

Freedom starts with something as simple as a meal

In rural South Africa, far too many children face malnutrition and chronic food insecurity. Ubuntu Mundo works every day to change that reality.

Ubuntu Mundo has been feeding children since 2016 and today we serve hot, nutritious meals to 1,500 children every day because all children deserve to be free from hunger.

We serve healthy meals, offer after-school classes, create good jobs, and build brighter futures.

We’re feeling great nostalgia for this video of the lovely Eugine. At the time, she was a child in our program and she spoke so beautifully about what Ubuntu Mundo meant to her. For Eugine and the thousands of children we have served over the years, we thank all our supporters for making this happen. Together we are building a program that is having a real impact on young lives — nutritious food served in a warm, supportive environment.

Our project in Bodlayabongolo sits next to the primary school and down the road from area creches (preschools), making it an easy stop after school. At this facility alone, we feed over 350 each day. Children arrive on foot for a hot, healthy meal. It is a joyful time.

It is an honor to nurture and support these young lives — all children are full of promise, and we do what we can to help each child in our program fulfill that promise.

This May, Friends of Ubuntu Mundo will host their first ever team of cyclists in the Five Boro Bike Tour, a 40-mile ride through all five boroughs of NYC. Friends of Ubuntu Mundo supports our mission of feeding children and this new event is a fun way to raise awareness and funds for our programs. So if you will be in New York on May 3, consider joining in the effort. You can ride with the team, make a donation to support a rider, or come out to cheer us on.

The first part of the year brought extreme weather with torrential rainfall and severe flooding to parts of southern Africa. Our region was particularly hard hit with destructive flooding impacting all aspects of life. Our gardens in Bodlayabongolo suffered extensive damage, but through the efforts of many workers, trenches were widened, planting beds were restored, and growing has begun anew. During this time, we have supplemented our daily meals for the children with vegetables bought in local markets. In the weeks ahead, our garden will begin to produce at full capacity again and all meals will include produce grown fresh on-site.

Ubuntu Mundo nourishes 1,500 children each school day. It serves healthy meals, creates good jobs, and builds brighter futures.

At the end of every school day, Ubuntu Mundo delivers hot, nutritious meals to over 750 children at the Morage Primary School in Mpumalanga Province in South Africa. At the beginning of our second year at the school, the Principal wrote to thank us for our support. He reports that the level of performance of learners across all grades has improved positively and that our support and the food we provide has had a huge positive effect on the lives of these children. He wrote “The mental strength of our learners has improved because of the energy that comes from the food.”

We are committed to supporting these children year in and year out. Thank you to all our supporters who make that possible.

Ubuntu Mundo began with a simple goal, to feed hungry children, and today we feed 1,450 children every school day. Hot, nutritious meals that change lives.

And through the generosity of so many supporters, this year we will launch a new chicken farm to provide fresh eggs to further enrich the children’s diet.

Thank you Friends of Ubuntu Mundo and the donors to their Campaign 2025: Nourishing Children and Feeding Futures. We are forever grateful for your support.
