Edenvale Acting & Drama Society

Edenvale Acting & Drama Society Edenvale Acting & Drama Society (EADS) is a community theatre group based in South Africa, est. 1964. New members are always welcome…
Come join our family!

We produce local theatre featuring fast-paced, comedic, and character-driven performances as well as pantomimes, putting on several shows per year. EADS was formed in 1964 by Pam and Roger Hazel, when they arrived in South Africa from Great Britain, and discovered that there was no local Dramatic Society. The Society operates from the St Chad’s Anglican Church in Edenvale, and produces a minimum o

f 2 productions per year; either a full length play or two one-act plays at the beginning of the year and a pantomime or musical at the end of the year. These productions are performed for the general public, normally over two weekends. Rehearsals take place twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday evenings). The society saw the need to introduce young people to the Theatre, and in 1996 the first Inter-High One-Act Play Festival was held. This Festival has proved to be highly successful over the past ten years, growing from 5 schools entering in 1996, to 17 schools in 2010. The success of the School’s Festival prompted EADS to also start a Society Festival in 2010, in order to raise the quality, status and profile of the amateur performing arts in order to make them viable once again so that they may regain their place in the cultural life of the community. At EADS, we are passionate about performing arts, and our motto is simple: “we do it for fun”.
