The CUTEST ginger twins ever joined the Outkittened family recently🄹

These 2-week-olds were found on Thursday without a mom. The kind people who found them said that they were alone for at least 8 hours😱 Leaving such a young kitten without warmth and food for so long can be fatal! Luckily one of our very dedicated fosters, Alissa, immdiately stepped in to help and arraged to get them late Thursday night.

They are teeny tiny. When they arrived little boy weighed 185g and little girl 155g.

Little boy had very gunky eyes due to neonatal opthalmia. This is an eye infection that happens in kittens before there eyes have opened. Untreated it can lead to permanent blindness in kittensšŸ™€

Both kittens are doing well otherwise and are being syringe fed round the clock with a special ni**le to track their feeds closely.

Keep an eye on our page for their sponsorship postsšŸ‘€

Here are some important things to keep in mind:

šŸ’– We love having multiple sponsors, but only the first sponsor will be able to name the kitten.
šŸ’– While the kittens are not ready for adoption just yet, your sponsorship will make a world of difference in their life.
šŸ’– Please note that sponsorship doesn't guarantee preference for adoption; that's a separate process.

They are so excited to have names of their own, and we can't wait to share their journey with you! 😁

Please DM us your POP and WhatsApp number so we can thank you and send you updates on the kittens. 🐾

So… What does fostering actually look like?

We keep fostering as flexible as we can. When kittens come into our care, we ask our foster families who is available and what age kittens they’re comfortable taking. If bottle babies aren’t your thing, that’s completely okay. You get to tell us what you’re comfortable with. You’ll never be expected to take a kitten you don’t feel ready for.

We provide the food, blankets, toys and everything else the kittens need, and we cover all veterinary care directly. You never have to pay a vet bill and wait to be reimbursed. The only thing we ask fosters to provide is kitten litter, although we often have donations that we can pass on to our foster families too.

You don’t need to be an expert either. We train you on our foster protocols, and our WhatsApp group is always there when you have a question, something doesn’t look right or you suddenly find yourself thinking, ā€œUmmm... now what?ā€ šŸ˜‚ Our team of board members and fosters are here to guide you through it.

All you really need is a separate room where your foster kittens can safely quarantine away from your own pets, and transport to get them to and from our affiliated vets when needed.

That’s it.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering but weren’t sure if you could actually do it, please just talk to us. We’ve answered lots of common fostering questions in our Instagram Highlight, or you can DM us or email us. We’re always happy to chat. šŸ¤Ž

Meet our teeny tiny new intake🄹

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the little pink toe beans? 🩷🩷🩷

This precious girl and her 4 siblings were born in the garden of a complex. One of the kind residents reached out to us to ask whether we’d be able to take the kittens in once they are a bit older. We immediately said yes and arranged a foster for the 5 kittens, and started planning their mom’s sterilisation. But their feral mama had other plans… Later that day, we got a call saying that she moved her kittens and they couldn’t find them! And unfortunately, one tiny little kitten was left behind… She had already been alone for hours, so our amazing foster parents Tissy and Jacques immediately stepped in to help!

At only 2,5 weeks old, she needs round the clock care. Her foster parents spent all night trying to get her to gain some strength and latch. Luckily, she started latching this morning! There’s no feeling better than when a kitten latches for the first time🄳

Her 4 siblings will be taken into foster care once we find them, and their mom will be TNR’ed (Trap, Neuter, Release) as she is extremely feral.

Please send this cutie and her siblings all the good vibes! ā¤ļø

🐾 Could you become one of our monthly supporters? 🐾

One of the biggest things that would help Outkittened is having a community of people who donate to us every month. ā¤ļø

It doesn’t have to be a lot. Even R50 a month makes a difference. What it gives us is something incredibly valuable: a little bit of financial certainty.

Instead of constantly wondering where next month’s food, vet bills and rescue costs are going to come from, we can know that a certain amount is coming in every month. And that makes SUCH a difference to a small rescue like ours. 🄹🐱

😻 Want to become a monthly donor?

1ļøāƒ£ Go to our donation page: https://purfectgiving.co.za/account/make-single-donation/5
šŸ”— Link also in our Instagram bio

2ļøāƒ£ Tick ā€œMake this a recurring donationā€

3ļøāƒ£ Choose your monthly amount and recurring date

āš ļø *Important:* Your first donation comes off on the day you sign up. Your recurring monthly payment will then come off on the date you choose.

So if you sign up today, 30 August, and choose 1 September as your recurring date, you’ll have two payments quite close together. We recommend choosing a date in the following month, like 30 September.

šŸ“§ You’ll receive an email asking you to confirm that you really want to become a monthly donor. You must approve this email for the recurring donation to be activated. This is simply a security measure to make sure nobody is signed up without their knowledge.

Need to change or cancel your donation later? You can manage it through that confirmation email, or send us a DM and we’ll help. ā¤ļø

R50. R100. R200. Whatever works for you.

Those monthly donations mean food in little bellies, vet care when it’s needed, medication, sterilisation and more kittens getting the chance they deserve. 🐾

Would you consider becoming one of our monthly supporters? ā¤ļø
