🎮 *GAME JAM PLUS SOUTH AFRICA 2026*
Ever wondered what it would be like to turn a game idea into a playable prototype in just 48 hours?

Game Jam Plus (GJ+) is an international game-development marathon where developers, artists, designers, musicians, writers, creatives and other game-making talents come together to build a game prototype around a theme revealed at the start of the jam.

And GJ+ doesn’t stop after the weekend. Games submitted by the end of the weekend jam, continue through to Incubation stage, then selected teams go through to Acceleration stage, taking their prototype further toward a potential indie game/business.

Ever wanted to make a game but didn't know where to start?

Women Game Jam (WGJ) is an international 48-hour game jam designed to provide a supportive, non-competitive space for cis and trans women and non-binary people to learn, experiment and create games together.

And you don't need to be an experienced game developer!

Programmer? Artist? Designer? Musician? Writer? Storyteller? Interested in games but completely new to development?

You can contribute.

Another year, another Women Game Jam, a global game jam community creating space for women and underrepresented genders in game development. This year marks its 10th international edition. Poster designed by Makhoba.

Over one weekend, we'll make games together and is beginner-friendly, alongside chapters from around the world. South Africa will have three on-sit community hubs in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban and will continue as a hybrid jam on Discord. All disciplines are welcome, from art and design to programming, storywriting, music and sound; you don't need any experience tk participate. This jam is a great start for beginners.
