Apparently yesterday was International Black Dog Day… so here are some of the black hounds and lurchers in our most recent camera roll 🖤

Did you know that black dogs wait 4 times as long to be adopted? This day was founded to raise awareness of this phenomenon, and to encourage the adoption of black dogs.

Update on Galant ❤️

We are overjoyed to see this sweet boy so happy in his new home—recovering beautifully, playing with his new friends, free to roam and run and live his best life.

He’s still has a long way to go, but what an incredible transformation already.

Thank you all for your support 🙏

FUNDS FOR GALANT ❤️‍🩹

This emaciated boy, Galant, was rescued in PE and will be collected in Plettenberg Bay on Saturday. He’ll be coming into our care, where he’ll need plenty of good food, care and veterinary treatment to help him on his road to recovery. Please help us give Galant the fresh start he deserves.

Every bit helps, swipe left for donation details 🙏

✨Happy International Dog Day✨

This annual awareness day was established in 2004 by Colleen Paige, a pet lifestyle expert and animal advocate, to celebrate all dogs and the ways in which they enrich human lives—from loving companions to those who serve through organizations like .medicalalertdogs.

There are plenty of dogs sitting in shelters, and many yet to be rescued. We’re grateful for this community and all who recognize that adopting means saving a life, and gaining a loyal best friend in the process.

If you’ve got room in your heart (and on your couch), please consider filling out the pre-adoption form in our bio to adopt a sighthound. It’ll be the best decision you ever make - just ask any of our adopters.

Give your hounds some extra love today ❤️

Appeal for Funds: Knight ❤️‍🩹

This noble Knight was surrendered in KZN after being hit by a car and suffering a broken femur.

The vet initially suggested amputation, but after a second opinion, they decided to add a splint and give him some antibiotics before we brought him to Cape Town for further treatment. He’ll likely make a partial recovery, walk with a slight limp, but still be able to run like the wind.

Please help us cover his vet bills and fund his rehabilitation, every bit helps 🙏

✨ SAVE THE DATE ✨

Just a heads up, there are currently 3 walks registered in the Western Cape. However, SRSA only receives proceeds from this one. We’re not sure about any walks organised in Joburg at this stage.

Happy International Women’s Day to all of the incredible women that make up this beautiful community ❤️💪

With Cheryl at the center of it all, SRSA is predominantly run and supported by women. That goes to show what a strong force we are, collectively.
SRSA wouldn’t exist without all of you and your support and love for the hounds!

We celebrate you every day, but especially today🥂
