Folks, a few days ago, we told you that something special is coming.

Today, we want to tell you just a little bit more.

Every day, working cart horses across the Cape Flats rely on people like you, who care enough to stand beside them, not just once, but every month, to help guide, protect and improve their lives.

And sometimes, making a difference does not require something big.

It simply requires someone to say, “I am here, ready to take the reins.”

Soon, you will meet a community built on compassion.

🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🌟🌟A NEW CHAPTER FOR SIYA 🌟🌟🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

After an incredible journey that began in 2024, Siya has decided to hang up his CHPA running shoes and take the next step as an independent runner.

When Siya started running, he was a novice with a dream. What followed has been nothing short of extraordinary. From his very first races to tackling marathons and the Comrades Marathon, twice, Siya trained hard, pushed his limits and grew into an accomplished runner.

Since 2024, Siya has raised R200,000 for CHPA, using his passion for running to make a real difference to the lives of the horses we care for.

Behind every kilometer was a group of incredible supporters. We are deeply grateful to the sponsors who believed in Siya and supported his journey, contributing more than R56,000 since 2024 to help make it possible.

Siya, thank you.
Thank you for putting yourself out there, taking on challenges that once seemed impossible, and carrying the CHPA name and the horses in your heart every step of the way.

You may remember Piccadilly, who was found being worked in a cart despite having been booked off work by CHPA due to an eye condition.

When our inspectors found him, he was also in shocking condition. We confiscated Piccadilly and laid charges of animal cruelty against his owner.

Inspector Cindy has been summonsed to appear in court on 21 August 2026 in connection with the matter.

We will keep you updated as the case progresses. Piccadilly deserves justice, and we will continue to stand up for him.

Late yesterday afternoon, we received a call to say Biscuit, a non-registered foal, had been bitten by a dog on the field he was grazing on with his mom. We rushed to go and collect him and called Dr Kate from Cape Vet Equine Practice. Dr Kate cleaned out his wound, stitched him up and we took him back home again last night. We will check up on Biscuit until his wound has healed.

When a horse is hurt, suffering and in pain, who shows up, CHPA!

Jan Vonk has been with us since 2010 when his owner signed him over to us. Lizzy has been with us since 2024, found in a cart with an entire car on it and she was in very poor condition.

With a full tummy, warm bed of clean shavings, it is time to switch of the light and say goodnight!

CHPA joined the Mamre Equestrian Club on Saturday and saw to over 200 horses. What an incredible turnout.

Thank you to Glen-Graze Rescue Sanctuary and Tom Ro Haven for also being part of this much needed outreach.

🐴🐴URGENT TACK REQUEST FOR HORSES IN LESOTHO🐴🐴
Folks, every year in September, CHPA is honored to be part of an incredible outreach in Semonkong, Lesotho, where thousands of horses and livestock receive much-needed care in remote rural communities.
This year, we are asking for your help again. We are looking for saddles, racing saddles, bridles, bits and numnahs to support these hardworking rural horses who have very little access to proper equipment.
If you have items you are able to donate, new or gently used, you can drop them off at Tack Shack Durbanville, Equestrian Affair in Wynberg, Tack and Tail in Joostenberg Vlakte and at our offices in Epping.
