YAKHA IKUSASA MANJE HEALTH DEVELOPMENT CENTRE
Youth Day | 16 June 2026

Today, we honour the courage, resilience, and sacrifice of the youth of 16 June 1976, whose bravery paved the way for the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy today. Their legacy reminds us that young people have the power to transform communities and shape a better future.

Guided by our vision of taking care and giving back, Yakha Ikusasa Manje Health Development Centre remains committed to transforming lives through health, education, and economic empowerment. We continue to create safe and inclusive spaces, address Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), and challenge the stigma that prevents individuals from reaching their full potential.

As we celebrate Youth Day, let us uphold our values of respect, transparency, innovation, and the courage to do what is right for our communities. Let us empower young people to become leaders, advocates for justice, and agents of positive change.

"We have always carried each other when the moment demands, thank you to the Heroes of June 16, 1976. We shall forever be indebted to you."

May the spirit of the youth of 1976 inspire us to stand against injustice, promote equality, reject stigma and discrimination, and work together to build healthier, safer, and more empowered communities.

Happy Youth Day!
Together, let us take care, give back, and build the future our youth deserve.

JUNE IS MENTAL HEALTH MONTH
Yakha Ikusasa Manje Health Development Centre

Mental health is just as important as physical health. Yet, many people continue to suffer in silence because of fear, stigma, and misinformation.

This Mental Health Month, let us challenge the myths, educate ourselves, and support one another.

FACTS TO REMEMBER:
• Mental health conditions can affect anyone.
• Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
• Recovery is possible with the right support and treatment.
• Talking openly about mental health saves lives.

Factors that can affect mental health include:
• Stress and pressure
• Financial difficulties
• Trauma and loss
• Chronic illnesses
• Substance and alcohol misuse
• Social isolation
• Poor sleep habits
• Bullying and discrimination

How you can help:
✔ Check in on your loved ones
✔ Listen without judgement
✔ Encourage professional support when needed
✔ Prioritise self-care and healthy habits
✔ Speak up and help reduce stigma

Remember:

"It's okay not to be okay. Speak up, reach out, seek help."

Together, we can build communities where everyone feels safe, supported, and valued.

The participants of Yakha Ikusasa Manje Health Development Centre – Mpumalanga Branch have once again demonstrated the true spirit of compassion and community support.

As winter approaches, the participants came together and contributed what they could to assist one of our after-school programme beneficiaries who was in need of a school uniform. Through their collective efforts and generosity, a new school uniform was purchased, ensuring that the learner can attend school with confidence and dignity.

This remarkable act of kindness shows that even small contributions can make a meaningful difference in someone's life. We are proud of our participants for their commitment to uplifting and supporting vulnerable members of our community.

A special word of appreciation goes to Precious Malinga, whose thoughtful idea inspired this initiative and helped make it a success.

Together, we are building stronger communities and creating brighter futures for our children.

"A little kindness can change a life."
