Flatlay Friday
Feat. Van Wong, the life (legs) saver for many of us here. She will also be taking part in this weekend's TransJeju_by_UTMB and it will be her very first race!
🩷🖤: what's your motivation for running?
Van 🏃🏻♀️: Running was never my thing. It still isn’t 😂
Earlier this year, I got heavily inspired by thespeedproject™️’s trip to LALV 2026. I felt like a fraud amongst all these incredible runners, so I started running a couple of kilometres before the trip , just in case I needed to catch up to them to tape an ankle or something 😂
Slowly, those couple of kilometres turned into 5km runs, and I eventually forced myself to sign up for a half trail marathon just to keep the running bandwagon going.
I chose trail, not road, though seemingly harder but really I am just there to walk /run/ hike/ eat and enjoy the views ⛰️Every time I come across a beautiful view, I think about what Eug once said: “Running brings u to places”. And I think that’s what kept me going.
🩷🖤: Any story behind the fit?
🏃🏻♀️: Bringing along my trusty TSP cap and our Magic Carpet bandana as a little reminder of how I started running. My Salomon vest was a birthday gift from my wife to keep me going. She obviously enjoyed her Sunday mornings alone while I was tucked away in the trails 🙃
Also… runner clothes = motivation to run 😂 I’ve spent way too much money on running gear, so I might as well wear them.
🩷🖤: If you could bring anything along your runs, what will it be?
🏃🏻♀️: My wife 😂 Dragging her lazy ass along with me so we can suffer together. ✌🏼
Or maybe my Fujifilm camera — so I can hike, walk and shoot along the way. As the wise Vincent Han once said, trail running is really just about hiking, walking, eating, and enjoying the views.
Good luck Van and have a safe race!!
