Following the closure of the Del Monte cannery in Modesto, clingstone peach growers across California have faced significant economic hardship and uncertainty.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced up to $9 million in funding to support a tree removal program, helping growers transition, recover and continue farming.

“It offers a glimmer of hope after a devastating period, ensuring California farmers can transition to new crops and stay on their land,” said California Farm Bureau President Shannon Douglass.

California Farm Bureau and the California Canning Peach Association thank the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Congressman Mike Thompson, Congressman David G.
