The Yuba-Sutter Young Farmers & Ranchers recently toured Montna Farms for an up-close look at rice harvest in action! 🌾 Members learned about the operation’s sustainability efforts, saw equipment at work, and gained firsthand insight into what it takes to bring in a successful crop.

Montna Farms is a family-owned, fully integrated operation farming about 4,000 acres of short grain rice across the Sacramento Valley! President Jon Munger and CFO Katherine Rosser hosted the tour, sharing Montna’s commitment to conservation and wildlife-friendly practices that support migratory birds and waterfowl.

A big thank-you to Montna Farms for opening your gates and sharing your passion for farming and conservation with Yuba-Sutter YF&R! 💚

We welcomed new faces, caught up with current members, and even had YSFB board members on the grill—paying up after losing the Toys for Tots competition! A huge shout-out to Logan Taylor of Sutter Butte Dusters for hosting our hands-on tour! ✈️ We climbed into the planes, saw seed & chemical loading, and learned about dry vs. liquid dispersal methods. We even checked out the hoppers and elevator systems in action before takeoff—and wrapped it all up with a BBQ. 🌱
