Downriver Foster Closet These items are new or gently used items that have been donated to us. Donations can be made any day we are open, please do not leave them outside.

Our organization provides clothing, underclothing, toys, shoes, baby equipment, and gear and in some cases furniture to children placed in the foster care system for any area! We also have a community blessing box, a pet blessing box and community library that is for everyone! To use our services inside you must be referred by an agency we work with, or have a child in foster care, relative placement, aged out of foster care, or adopted.

After an incredibly busy Back-to-School season, our shelves are LOW and we need our village to help us restock! We continue to fill orders every week for children and families involved in foster care, and some of our most-used everyday essentials are disappearing quickly.

🚨 **OUR BIGGEST NEEDS RIGHT NOW:**

* 🧴 ALL Hygiene Items
* 🩲 NEW Underwear — Kids 4t-14/16
* 🧦 **NEW Socks — Girls/ toddler/ baby
* 🪮 African American hair-care products
* 🧼 Body wash, shampoo & conditioner
* 👶 Baby wipes & diapers- 4 and larger/ all size pull ups we are out of wipes

🎃 **PLUS — FALL FEST IS COMING!**

We're collecting items to make sure our foster youth are ready for Michigan winter:

We are officially starting to plan our Downriver Foster Closet Fall Fest, and we’re looking for businesses, organizations, churches, groups, and community members who want to help us spread some spooky joy to our foster youth!🧡💜

Right now, we are looking for:

🎪 Groups & Businesses to create a Halloween Village Station
🧥 Sponsors & collections for NEW winter coats
🥾 NEW winter boots
🧤 Hats & gloves
🧴 Hygiene products

Want to create a Village Station? Sponsor a tent and make it FUN! Host a game, activity, craft, resource table, treats, or come up with something completely unique. Decorate your space—the kids will even get to vote for their favorite setup! 🏆🎃

Don't have time to host a station? You can still be part of our village by organizing a collection drive for hygiene products, winter coats, hats, gloves, or boots!

We’re looking for businesses, organizations, churches, community groups, agencies, and local partners who want to help us create something EXTRA special for youth in foster care at our 2026 Fall Fest Halloween Village! 👻🍂

⏰ 2:00–5:00 PM
📍 Downriver Foster Closet – Wyandotte

This event is specifically for youth in foster care and the families we serve. During Fall Fest, kids will be able to:

🧥 Receive a NEW winter coat
🥾 Receive winter boots
🎃 Pick out a Halloween costume
🛍️ Shop for winter clothing
🍬 Enjoy Halloween activities, treats, games and more!

But this year, we want to do things a little differently—and we need OUR VILLAGE!

🎪 CREATE YOUR OWN VILLAGE STATION!

Your group or business can set up and decorate a tent and create something fun for the kids. Make it your own!

🎯 Host a game or activity
🎨 Create a craft station
🍿 Hand out treats or snacks
💙 Provide a family resource
🧴 Create a teen/self-care station
🎃 Come up with your own creative idea!

Decorate your space and HAVE FUN with it! The kids will even get to VOTE for their favorite setup! 🏆🎃

We want our families to walk into a whole Halloween Village filled with organizations and people who are there just for THEM.

You provide the station. Together, we create the experience. ❤️

We’ll be at Music for a Cause at The Grecian Center this Monday, and this is one you don’t want to miss!

This event is all about bringing our Downriver community together while supporting the nonprofits, organizations, businesses, and people who work hard to make a difference right here in our community.

🛍️ City-Wide Yard Sale Fundraiser – Donation Reminder! 💙

It's time to start cleaning out those closets, garages, and basements!

We're currently accepting donations for our City-Wide Yard Sale Fundraiser, with all proceeds helping support our fall events and programs for children and families involved in foster care.

📚 Books
🎮 Games
🪑 Home décor..and much more!

📦 Donation Drop-Offs:
Please bring your items during our regular business hours. Check out our calendar below for our current hours.

🙋 We're also looking for volunteers! Help is needed to sort donations, set up, work the sale, and clean up afterward. Whether you can give a few hours or the whole day, we'd love to have you on our team.

Every donated item and every volunteer helps us continue providing free resources, clothing, and unforgettable experiences for the children and families we serve.
