Somehow it’s August! And summer programs at Strong Tower Ranch are officially over ☀️

We ended our busy summer with the Trailblazer Retreat, a 4-day, 4-night retreat for 13-14-year-olds. They stay at the cabin or camp in a tent, enjoy all the outdoor activities, and dive deep with intentional Bible study and quiet time.

We spend the most time with this oldest group of campers, and we give them bigger questions and more opportunities to explore what it means to follow Jesus. This can be a hard age, and we are so glad that we get the opportunity to guide these young people as they step into the teenage years.

Stay tuned over the next couple of weeks, as we start to share spotlights of each week of camp 🔥

*as previously noted, all photos from each week of camp will be made available via email to parents of campers. These will be available to download for a limited time, so make sure you look through them sooner than later!

It is so hard to believe that our summer of day camp is already almost over! 4 weeks of horse camp and 3 weeks of day camp down, and only one more day until DC Week Four is over, too. We’ll finish things out with the Trailblazer retreat next week, but in the meantime, here’s a snippet of the past couple weeks!

A note regarding pictures- we have some wonderful people volunteer their skills to take photos, edit, sort and cull, and then get those camp photos to parents! This year, we are changing things up by emailing a link to parents of campers with access to a photo album for each week. This will make it a little easier for our volunteers, and streamline the process so that parents get photos a little sooner.

Volunteers, don’t forget that you can access the Google Drive for photos.

We will also post a photo dump on Facebook as the season wraps up…just not hundreds of photos at a time!

Stay tuned for more moments from the summer- it sure has been a good one.

“…it seems fitting to highlight one of our horses, Spirit. He came to us on February 8, 2015, after we received a phone call about a wounded horse that desperately needed a home. When we first visited this little fella, he was high-headed and very scared.”

“We repeatedly witness the Spirit of the Lord showing up, doing what He does best…providing freedom and helping children open their hearts and experience a glimpse of what true freedom feels like in Jesus.“

Our program director, Lori Brooks, has written a beautiful newsletter to celebrate the halfway mark of our summer and our country’s 250th birthday. If you’re not already on our newsletter list, this one is worth joining. 🔥

Last week, we had the blessing of hosting the Higher Ground Church youth group, as they joined us at Day Camp. Higher Ground has been serving on mission with us for over ten years! It is always a joy to have them on property for the week and witness them serve wholeheartedly.

Check out this video and hear from Stephen and Karen Kassing, who were once youth group members and now youth group leaders. Lienna Marshmann also shares her experience as someone who grew up at STR, from every stage of camper to leader.

Serving on mission is not something reserved for mission trips in other countries. As Stephen shares here, following Jesus with our whole hearts requires us to be serving Him in our daily lives, not just at camp or on a mission trip. Praise God for His grace to stir our hearts.

If this sounds like an experience you want your youth group to have, please reach out! We have FOUR weeks of day camp, which means four teams can be involved. Dreaming for next year starts now- this fall, we will start accepting applications for 2027 camp mission trips.

Hello camper parents!

We wanted to let you know that at this time, we will still hold camp tomorrow! We do have a high percentage of rain coming and we are under a flood watch. We want you to feel comfortable that your child is in a safe environment so we completely understand your decision to send your child to camp under these circumstances.

We have lots of fun rainy day activities planned, but the kids will get wet! They will need raincoats, umbrellas and warmer clothes for tomorrow. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

We can’t wait to see you all tomorrow, but as always, we want to see everyone arrive safely! If you’re taking 70 and using exits at Wright City or Foristell, use caution and stay alert. You may want to give yourself some extra time in your commute this coming week!
