90 Years of Worcester History, Family & Tradition

As we get ready for the Worcester Italian Festival, we visit one of Worcester’s most iconic landmarks, the legendary Boulevard Diner, celebrating an incredible 90-year legacy.

Domenic with the Worcester Public Market sits down with Jimmy George, owner of the Boulevard Diner, to talk about the history behind this Worcester staple and the family traditions that have survived through generations.

Jimmy shares the story of the family’s secret sausage recipe, passed down since the 1960s and still known by only four people.

Today, that tradition continues with Jimmy’s daughter, Gabby, who learned the art of making the family sausage directly from her father, carrying forward a legacy that traces back to Jimmy’s dad Ringo, in the 1940s.

Four generations. One family tradition. Nearly a century of Worcester history.

Join us as we visit Seacoast Sport Cycle in Derry, New Hampshire, where we check out an incredible Ducati with Kevin Comellas, Executive Chef and owner of TapaVino in Worcester, alongside Domenic Mercurio, Executive Director of the Worcester Public Market.

During the visit, Domenic invites everyone to attend the Worcester Italian Festival, taking place August 13–16 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Loreto Parish, where you’ll experience four days of authentic Italian food, live entertainment, family fun, and community celebration.

Chef Kevin will be serving up his incredible cuisine from TapaVino, one of the many outstanding vendors featured at the festival. Joining him will be fellow Worcester Public Market favorites Bri’s Sweet Treats and Froze Zone Gelato, bringing even more delicious local flavors for everyone to enjoy.

Bring your family and friends and celebrate one of Worcester’s favorite summer traditions from August 13–16.

Check out our incredible vendors bringing their very best to the Worcester Italian Festival!

First stop: a gelato maker Froze Zone who confidently claims to serve the best gelato in the area.

Next, a chef from ¡TapaVino! who says his Italian club sandwich is second to none.

And finally, a chocolatier Bri's Sweet Treats, Worcester promising a chocolate cannoli creation that’s going to completely blow me away.

Well… challenge accepted.

I’m putting every one of those claims to the test. Now it’s up to them to deliver.
