🚨 DONKEY RESCUE UPDATE — THE NUMBERS HAVE CHANGED.
The situation we have been fundraising for in New Mexico is becoming much bigger and more complicated by the day.
We were originally told we were dealing with approximately 25–30 donkeys. Today, we were informed the realistic number is closer to 45.
FORTY-FIVE DONKEYS.
And if we cannot step in, these animals are facing being rounded up and sent to auction.
We have already been working behind the scenes to make this rescue possible. Our team, hauler, veterinarian, and another local rescue are coordinating equipment, manpower, transportation, veterinary needs, and safe placement.
But with the number increasing by nearly half, our resource needs are increasing too.
We have started building additional holding pens because we will need to safely separate intact males from females. So far, you have helped us raise approximately $1,300, and we are incredibly grateful. We have also received a donation of used panels that we need to get picked up and transported.
But we are not there yet.
We are currently calculating exactly what additional resources will be required to safely handle 45 donkeys and bring this rescue together.
This is not a simple pickup.
This is a massive rescue operation involving transportation, containment, separation, veterinary care, feed, manpower, and continued care once these animals arrive.
We were incredibly fortunate to get the lead on this situation and the opportunity to intervene before these donkeys are sent through the auction system.
Now we need to be ready.
45 donkeys are depending on this rescue coming together.
We will continue updating everyone as we get concrete numbers on what we need. For now, if you have been waiting for a reason to help — this is it.
Every dollar, every panel, every load of supplies, every mile donated, and every person willing to help matters.
We cannot do this alone. But together, we have a chance to change the outcome for all 45 of these animals.
Please stay tuned. This rescue is imperative, and we are going to do everything we can to make it happen. 🫏❤️
