This past Saturday, May 9, the National Association of Letter Carriers held its annual “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive all over the U.S. Our hometown effort in Town of Windsor CT was a great success despite the rainy weather, thanks to our local mail carriers and to many generous residents who, on that day, placed bags of nonperishable food near their mailboxes. All of that food was picked up by the carriers and donated to our volunteer-run Windsor Food and Fuel Bank!

The Windsor Food and Fuel Bank and Town of Windsor Social Services are especially grateful to the volunteers who unloaded the donated food and then stocked our pantry so it can be distributed to Windsor residents in need. Special thanks to a great group of AMAZON employees and to the Windsor Police Cadets and Windsor Police Officer Michaela Boulay.

TODAY/Saturday, May 9th, the National Association of Letter Carriers will hold its annual one-day "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive all over the nation.
Here in the Town of Windsor CT, food collected by letter carriers will be donated to the WINDSOR FOOD AND FUEL BANK.
YOU can help - This Saturday, simply leave a donation of non-perishable food in a bag near your mailbox and it will be picked up by your mail carrier. Volunteers from the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank will then collect the food from them and bring it to our food pantry for distribution to Windsor residents in need.
Thank you in advance to all Windsor residents who want to help!

The National Association of Letter Carriers, NALC, is the national labor union of city delivery letter carriers employed by the United States Postal Service.

Wells Lindsay, a longtime Windsor resident and retired aerospace manufacturing manager, (on the left) has been elected President of the Windsor Food and Fuel Bank Inc. Lindsay replaces the former Windsor Food and Fuel Bank President Joanna Gould who served in that position for four years. Gould remains on the Board of the nonprofit organization as its Treasurer.

The volunteer-led nonprofit organization also elected its 2026 officers and Board members who are all Windsor residents. In addition to new President Wells Lindsay, the officers are 1st Vice President Denise Novak, 2nd Vice President Laura Soll-Broxterman, Treasurer Joanna Gould and Secretary Marlene Tower. The Board members are Joyce Armstrong, Florence Barlow, Devra Brown, Cyndi Deshais, Bob Goldberg, Richard E.Knickerbocker, and Paul Vagnini. The Board’s 2026 high school student members are Daniel Garcia and Aleks Gould. (Pictured left to right: President Lindsay; Novak; Soll-Broxterman; Tower; and Gould)

Newly elected President Wells Lindsay retired after 40 years in aerospace manufacturing in December 2023 and, several months later, joined the Windsor Food and Fuel Bank’s Board of Directors. During his long career, he focused on sales, marketing and lean manufacturing. His volunteer experience includes serving as President of the Connecticut Manufacturing Association, and as a Board member of the Windsor Shad Derby and various youth sports and church organizations.

“As a young adult, I admired Harry Chapin’s storytelling music, and his drive to raise hunger awareness made a lasting impact on me,” explains Lindsay. “The singer and songwriter sponsored more than 100 concerts every year and he charged only donations of food for admission, rather than ticket fees. As a church youth leader, I helped to sponsor many food drives and, later, worked in my church’s local food bank.” Lindsay adds, “I look forward to directing my energy on the many important services of the Windsor Food and Fuel Bank and working with a committed group of volunteers, the Windsor Social Services staff, and our town’s community as we continue to support our Windsor neighbors in need.”

The Windsor Food & Fuel Bank Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in 1967. The generosity of local individuals, businesses, civic and religious organizations provides for 95 percent of the WF&FB’s annual operating budget. Once again, Windsor-based TLD has stepped up to make the holiday season brighter for the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank and local residents. In December, TLD held a nonperishable food items collection effort for the pantry. Employees also raised funds for the volunteer-run nonprofit by hosting a holiday raffle and TLD leadership then matched the amount raised – totaling $2,440! We are extremely grateful to this corporate neighbor and its hundreds of employees for their generosity!
