Remember, voting isn't the most you can do but it's the least you can do! If you don't like what is going on, you need to vote in the primary. That's where the decisions are made in most districts.

The Des Moines Register did a nice story last Sunday on the June 2nd primary races in Iowa. They mentioned that if you are a registered independent you must change your registration to either Republican or Demcract in order to vote. What they didn't ask was why in a taxpayer funded election, you have to pick a party?

Thank you to all who attended our Town Hall meeting with John Opdyke, president of Open Primaries. He shared these startling statistics.

• 44% of registered voters identify as independents making them the largest bloc of voters
• Millions of independent registered voters across the nation, including over 700,000 in Iowa, are locked out of the primary election
• Independent registration grows every year nationally and in Iowa
• While many states including Iowa are working to open primaries to independent voters, many states are working to close them

If you are willing to help, we need time, treasure and talent.
• Our social media campaign to target voters in House and Senate Leadership districts costs about $4500 per district. Even a small monthly contribution of $5 $10 or $25 a month helps and as a non-profit 501(c)3 we are recognized by donor advised funds. These campaigns have been highly successful indentifying supporters. Over 1000 supporters have signed up!
• We need people to write letters to the editor. We will supply you with suggested copy you can tailor to your own voice as well as where to send it to your local newspaper
• If you like to talk, calling campaigns to our supporters are a great way to help
• We can provide speakers for breakfast clubs, civic and community organizations

Thank you for your support!
