Please join us in congratulating GEMA/HS Area 1 Field Coordinator Jonathan Jones on being named one of the 2026 IAEM-USA 40 Under 40 honorees!

Jonathan is the only honoree from Georgia selected for this year’s prestigious recognition by the U.S. Council of the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM-USA).

The 40 Under 40 program recognizes exceptional emergency management professionals who demonstrate outstanding leadership, innovation, community impact and service, all while balancing the responsibilities of family, friends and everyday life.

This year, more than 92 professionals were nominated, with candidates evaluated by a special selection task force of the IAEM-USA Awards and Recognition Committee. Only 40 were chosen.

Jonathan’s recognition reflects not only his dedication to the emergency management profession, but also his commitment to serving communities across Georgia.

Congratulations, Jonathan, on this well-deserved national recognition! We are proud to have you representing GEMA/HS and the State of Georgia!

Afternoon Radar Update [4:50PM ET]
A narrow corridor of showers and thunderstorms continue to build and repeatedly move over much of Interstate 20 into Metro Atlanta. Ample moisture in place has resulted in high rainfall rates (2+ inches) with this activity and the potential for flash flooding is likely through the evening hours.
Afternoon/evening commutes are likely to be impacted so consider alternative travel routes or plans. Do not attempt to drive across water-covered roadways!
