Community impact is a core foundation of the Leadership Barrow program! Each class discusses where the need is greatest and carefully decides how they can best utilize their shared resources. After visiting The Tree House during Non-Profit Day back in October, it was clear how important the work they do in our community is! It was an honor and a pleasure to help get them more visible signage they desperately needed and deserved. Additionally, all remaining funds from the Class of 2026's Impact Project fundraiser will go towards helping the Tree House replenish supplies after a 2025 storm impacted their facility!

We’re incredibly grateful to officially unveil the new sign at The Tree House! 💚🌳

The Tree House Board Members want to extend a sincere thank you to Leadership Barrow Class of 2026, for believing in our mission and helping us continue Building Families. Rebuilding Lives.

The new sign not only helps welcome visitors to our campus, but also stands as a symbol of hope, healing, and the power of community partnerships.

It is always a really special day when our Adult Leadership Barrow class has the opportunity to show off their industry to our Youth Leadership Barrow students🧡 During Wednesday’s Industry Day, our young leaders had the opportunity to visit a wide variety of careers with stops at Stepan (a chemical plant), Akins Ford (our local car dealership who happens to be the #1 Ford dealer in the world), and our Georgia National Guard base here in Barrow County! From donning hard hats as they learned the importance of chemicals in our modern world to sitting in a helicopter used in real life missions, there was so much to explore.

Special thank you to the following Adult Leadership Barrow champions who helped make this day possible:

Heath Davis, Class of 2025
Miranda Deaton, Class of 2023
Chase Harris, Class of 2026
Lydia Huff, Class of 2025
Tywanda Jackson, Class of 2020
Tanner Maloof, Class of 2024
Clay McElhannon, Class of 2024
Will Schroth, Class of 2026

What an honor it was for our Class of 2026 to be able to spend a day within Barrow County Schools for a behind-the-scenes glimpse into what our future leaders are learning. From 9th grade algebra to 6th grade anatomy to hula hooping in gym, our leaders are so grateful for the faculty, staff, and students who bring life into our school system!

The Class of 2026 is focused on making an impact🧡 Whether that be helping at food distributions, honoring community leaders for their contributions, or gathering together to help a local non-profit start their journey at a new home, we are honored to be a part of Barrow County and the many pieces that make our community special.

🌟 Impact Project Announcement 🌟

Impact Projects are a long-standing tradition of the Leadership Barrow program. They are a way to give back to the community that has inspired so many leaders within our county borders! In the past, there have been blessing boxes built, building spaces revitalized for continued use, a whole porch and landscaping built, and so much more. These special projects have left a deep impact on the organizations who have benefited from them, and it was important to the Class of 2026 to continue this tradition.

After the day we spent visiting so many wonderful non-profits here in Barrow County, our class had a hard time picking one sole need to focus on, especially when we have so many leaders ready and willing to help! As a result, we identified four special organizations that have frequent visitors or residents. For our impact project, we are proud to announce that we will be focusing on revitalizing their outdoor spaces through painting, landscaping, signage, and more!

To help raise funds for this endeavor, we're excited to announce our Leadership Barrow Multi-Draw Raffle featuring a wide variety of prizes from our community partners! On March 18th, during our Leadership Barrow session, we will go live via our page to draw for winners. The gift card will be drawn first, and the baskets will be drawn after that. Every ticket is a chance to win any of the items in the prize list!

To purchase tickets, please see a member of the Class of 2026 or pay via the link below (make sure you put your name and contact info in the note section!).

Did you know that in addition to our Adult Leadership Barrow program, we also have Youth Leadership Barrow designed to help promote leadership skills among our high schoolers? In January, the Youth Leadership class had the opportunity to visit The Wimberly Center and Class of 2026 member, Suzanne Moses!! She, along with one of the talented chefs who use the Wimberly's Roots kitchen, taught our young leaders a new recipe. In addition to the cooking class, they were joined by Northeast Georgia Medical Center Barrow where they learned how to Stop The Bleed, a training that teaches people how to properly use tourniquets and stop major bleeds in the event of accidents!
