Sharing some additional information about Advanced directives from shaunita: If anyone wants help from Shaunuta with completing their advance directive or if they have more questions.

She is an advance directives facilitator and it is best practice to have someone like her, a doctor or lawyer to help understand it. She is available to help anyone who needs it by emailing the NAACP.

Getting help from Shaunita would be free, but your physician or a lawyer may charge for services.

They would just need two witnesses to sign it though.

What a night!! We started off with an excellent and informative presentation about the 1% tax referendum by Dr. Van Heukelum and City Manager, John Piper. We then moved into updates about the south end fire hall and information about lithium battery safety by Chief Savage before he introduced the C.A.R.E team, Ashley and the newest member Cedric. These are two absolutely incredible people who are boots on the ground helping Wi******ers most vulnerable citizens. Pause the video on their flyer to see all the amazing things they do and feel free to reach out to them if you have any concerns about City residents in your community. We wrapped up the night with our special presentation by NAACPWi******erArea Health Committee Chair and dedicated R.N. Shaunita Rhone. Shaunita talked about the importance of preparing and sharing an Advanced Directive and brought some helpful and insightful material. Help your loved ones know your wishes and save them the pain of making a decision about your care by completing an Advanced Directive.

✨SPECIAL EVENT!✨Join BikeWalk Wi******er and WPD Chief Ronnie Lewis and a panel of other experts for a special Open Community Meeting addressing the issue of ‼️E-Motos.‼️

👉Background:
True electric bicycles (e-bikes) are a welcome innovation, making cycling more accessible regardless of age, fitness, or transportation needs.

E-motos, however, are high-speed, unregulated vehicles that are far more powerful and much faster than legally defined e-bikes. These devices can be shaped like bicycles and are often equipped with pedals. When marketed as bikes, they lead parents to believe they are purchasing a bicycle when they may actually be buying a high-speed motor vehicle for their child.

Addressing dangerous riding is critical to improving safety for pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and riders themselves. But right now, confusion around definitions makes enforcement and safety difficult. Virginia law already distinguishes true e-bikes (limited to 750 watts and can't go above 20 mph without pedal assist) from mopeds and motorcycles, but where do these new e-motos fit?

What regulations currently apply? What can our city do next?

There will be an educational presentation on e-bikes versus e-motos, followed by a panel discussion with local officials, e-bike riders, pedestrian advocates, and others to answer your questions about what's currently being done and what can be done in the future.
