Sunday, we said goodbye to Conn. It was a beautiful weather day to honor our colleague and friend, with a great crowd of his supporters to make sure he was honored correctly.

Everyone knew the person that Conn was, but now we fully understand the impact he had on so many people. He will never be replaced and the void everyone has with his passing will hopefully continue to be filled with the constant memories of who he was and how he did what he did.

The next step of the process begins as everyone tries to adjust to moving forward, never forgetting what he has left behind.

There are far too many people to thank, and we don’t want to leave anyone out, so from all of us at Deerfield Valley Rescue, a very large Thank You to everyone that has played any part of the last 10 days.

Rest in Peace Conn……🚑

There will be a Memorial Service for Conn Rose, this Sunday the 12th, at 3pm at the Deerfield Valley Rescue Wilmington Squad House, 22 Stowe Hill Road in Wilmington.

If you would like to bring your favorite chair to sit, please do so...we will have a few available, but not many. The ground is slightly uneven, and we will attempt to assist anyone who needs special accommodations. Carpooling is suggested due to potential parking needs!

Light refreshments will be available, however should you want to bring something easy to share, please feel free to do so.

It is with great sadness we must report the passing of Advanced EMT (DV111) Conn Rose. Conn was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on Friday July 3rd in Heath Mass. Conn was a 22-year member of Deerfield Valley Rescue, currently running as an AEMT and a member of our Board of Directors. In addition, Conn was a longtime LPN at Grace Cottage Hospital and ran his own business, The Mower Man, doing lawns, landscaping and pretty much anything around the greater Deerfield Valley.

We at Deerfield Valley Rescue offer our deepest appreciation for his professionalism, kindness and compassion.

As a longtime member of Deerfield Valley Rescue, Conn's dedication reached throughout the community, bringing comfort, care and relief to those in need.

He touched countless lives, inspiring others to see the wonder of life's possibilities. His legacy of service and compassion will be remembered always.

Arrangements are still pending as Conn's family is enroute to the Valley and they will be shared as they become available.

Rest easy Conn.......😢🚑

With the high temperatures and the high humidity, check on your friends and family with breathing difficulty. Air conditioning and dehumidifiers will help with ease of breathing and remember to hydrate plenty of water, do not wait until you're thirsty.

Now is a great time to test carbon monoxide detectors and remember to not use Open flame devices such as grills inside. Also space heaters require clearance on all side to minimize fire hazard. Please reach out to Fire, Police or Rescue for further assistance. Be safe and stay warm!

As you might have heard, we have some winter weather coming; tonight through Sunday we have cold temperatures and wind, making wind chills very cold. Then Sunday (midmorning/afternoon) through Monday, we have the potential for lots of snow.
- Stay Warm and Safe;
Limit your time outdoors and dress in layers if you must go out.
Check on elderly neighbors/friends, family and anyone you think may need some help.
Use heating devices safely; never leave space heaters unattended and ensure proper ventilation.
-Be prepared;
Charge your phones and devices ahead of time.
Have flashlights and extra batteries in case of power outages.
Make sure you have essential supplies and foods.
-Travel Smart;
Avoid unnecessary travel; allow the plows to do their thing!!
Slow down, increase following distances and watch the road conditions.
Keep essentials in your car in case you get stranded. But the best way to avoid this is just stay home!!!

Moderate to high confidence for a significant winter storm Sunday into Monday resulting in widespread heavy snowfall to much of eastern New York and western New England. Winter Storm Watches issued for the entire area from 7 am Sunday through 7 pm Monday. Snowfall amounts of 12-24" are possible across much of eastern NY and western New England.

Pro tip for surviving the cold in Vermont:
1 check the fuel levels for your heating fuels prior to Saturday's extreme cold. Reach out to your fuel provider if you need to.
2 Cold weather is hard on your vehicles. Always keep your fuel tank in your cars and trucks filled up in the extreme cold. This prevents moisture and condensation buildup but it never hurts to carry some dry gas as well.
3 remember to check on friends, neighbors and the elderly. Not everybody has the luxury of being prepared
4 Request help as early as possible. If experiencing difficulties with heating systems or the ability to heat your home. It is easier to keep a safe temperature in your home than it is to raise a freezing temperature.
