Wilkes Acoustic Folk Society

Wilkes Acoustic Folk Society Welcome to the Wilkes Acoustic Folk Society (WAFS). We're a non-profit organization focused on nurturing musical appreciation and talent.

Membership $25.00 for individual, $30.00 for family. Membership privilages: members of the WAFS can apply for the Duncan-Elliot Scholarship. The board decides on the scholarship winner the week following MerleFest. WAFS has offered a scholarship to a deserving applicant for a week-long workshop at the Swannanoa Gathering. Since 1991, Warren Wilson College just east of Asheville has hosted a series of workshops in various folk arts during July and August.
