Things got a little spotted and slippery for our Tunkhannock staff in the Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Blended Case Management programs, who recently got an introduction and better understanding on the ins and outs of snake life. The thankfully "optional" event was apparently a fun one as noted by the many smiles in the room. When it comes to snakes, are you in or out?

We are so grateful to the United Way of Wyoming Valley and the many businesses and organizations who are making Day of Caring 2026 an outstanding day of collaboration and service! Our volunteers from M&T Bank, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, CVS Health and TJ Maxx/TJMaxx Distribution Center toiled away inside and outside -- working on crafts with visiting children and families, washing some hard-used agency vehicles, and planting flowers at our facilities on South Franklin Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. Thank you for your service and support to make our environment shine brightly for clients and staff!

Students in the Dental Hygiene Program at Luzerne County Community College are giving back, supporting wellness for teenagers at Children’s Service Center. The group raised $600 through t-shirt sales and assembled hygiene kits – including a donation of toothbrushes and toothpaste – to promote self-care and emotional well-being for those receiving services at CSC’s Milford Barnes School.

CSC is grateful for the support of the LCCC Student American Dental Hygienists’ Association - SADHA, the LCCC Benco Dental Center, and the entire class of dental hygiene students who worked on this project and gave generously of their time to make it happen.

Presenting the kits this week at Children’s Service Center (from left) were: CSC’s Lindsay Bower, Director of Education, and Sydney Szafranovicz, Director of Partial Hospitalization; and LCCC’s SADHA Officers Nancy Morris of Wilkes-Barre (President), Estefany Veras of Wilkes-Barre (Secretary), and Andrea Lopez of Montrose (Treasurer).

This dental team in training is truly something to SMILE about!

Today is one of our Sanctuary Day observances, when we remind our coworkers about the importance of positivity and taking care of one another as we work to support our community. Sanctuary principles are grounded in creating a trauma-informed environment where safety, communication, and accountability can help everyone define and achieve their personal goals. You might see many of us wearing our agency t-shirts or "positive message" gear like (from left) Kim Chattin, Christine Monaghan and Pat Roper. Their t-shirts from the recent NAMI walk remind us "One Step, One Breath, One Day at a Time." Keep moving forward....we are here for YOU!
